At 4 am there was a 4.3 quake near Sycamore.

I was awake at the time and felt it quite strongly. At first I thought it was a snow plow going by; looked out the window but the street was still unplowed more than it was when I went to bed about 11 PM.

I walked around the house, looking to see if something had fallen over. Nothing. I had WGN radio on and about 4:05 the reports started coming in.

Certainly nothing I suppose compared to what our California friends quite routinely feel, but those periodic tremors here do get our attention.

Anybody else feel it?

ETA....looks like they lowered it to 3.8, but that does now minimize what it felt like this AM, LOL.

I sure did.. I got up just before 4:00 to go to the bathroom and when I was getting back into bed I thought a snow pl0w hit my house.. I looked outside and there was nothing.. CREEPY!!!

Not that I know of. I would have been sleeping.;) Interestingly my dd said she woke up at 4amish. Of course she said it was the wind rattling.

Thanks for the info.

Hi Dan!

Yes, I felt it. I was just walking out of the bathroom when I felt the house shake. I could hear my crystal and china rattling in the china cabinet. It was really bizarre!

When I logged onto my computer this morning I read about it on the CNN web site.

I can imagine you guys thinking it was a snow plow!

Snow and earthquakes...what's next locust???

TC:cool1:

Yep the bed was shakin' and my pet birds were freaking out.

I'm in Crystal Lake, which isn't very far from Sycamore, and we didn't feel anything! Nothing rattled, or fell off the wall or shelves. I miss all the fun stuff...

I was the only one in our house that felt it. At first I thought that it was a plow or a plane but then I immediately thought earthquake. The weird thing is that the night before I had a dream that I saw two planes crash in the airport behind our house. In my dream one just missed our house (our yard borders a small airport). It was just some shaking that last about 10 seconds or so. Nothing fell off the shelves. Actually this is the 3rd one that I remember feeling as an adult. The first one was in '86 or '87 when we lived in Hinsdale. The last two were here in Bolingbrook.

I heard this on the news this morning and was just about to email you and check on you guys!

Geez...between this, blizzards, mudslides etc. etc. It sure does get your attention!

I was gonna say no, but I did wake up for some reason right around 4 am-ish. I chalked it up at the time to my housesitting for my parents (I NEVER get decent sleep there :headache: ), but maybe it was the quake.

I sure did! I'm in Elgin and it woke me from a sound sleep. The whole house shook. It felt like a huge vibration was coming up from the basement. I had no idea what it was until my alarm went off at 7 and I heard the reports on the radio. I knew that IL could get quakes, but not this strong!

DH joking said that was no earthquake ya'll felt. It was the Illini campus jumping all around, welcoming the basketball team back after whooping on WI.

Eastern Iowa here - about 3.5 hours away, and I didn't feel anything. Blizzards and earthquakes.. what a winter.

Yes!!!!!!!!!!!!! It woke us all up and I was scared!

It wasn't like last time a couple years ago, this one seemed to be going a long time!
