Anybody familiar with PET Scans?

I'm having one Tuesday, and I can't for the life of me figure out WHY I have to go on a low carb diet just to have an x-ray?

(Hi, I'm Deb and I'm addicted to butterscotch Life Savers, Sweet Tarts and World's Finest Chocolate bars with almonds, but not all at the same time)

I'm seriously considering volunteering my dog Daisy for this one, especially since it looks like its going to take several hours (?!?!?!) to complete.

I'm really not looking forward to this, and not knowing what to expect it making it much worse - the doctor just basically sent his nurse in and said here's your appointment, be there, do this diet. Go figure!

Oh, big question - why would they ask if I'm claustrophobic??? I am, big time!!! Does this involve a tiny tube like an MRI? I can handle a CT scan, no problem, but no way, Jose on an MRI! Not even after 2 valium and lots of "calm blue ocean" self psychology.

Holy Hades! For what this is going to cost, I really think they should be serving me champagne and caviar on gold plate and Waterford crystal and use a silk padded table for the procedure! And I'm covered by TWO insurances!
