Anybody ever use Kitchen Tune-up?

We bought a new house in June. We updated with new SS appliances (the others were 23 years old & didn't all work) and granite countertops since their stuff wasn't very good. Since then I have changed the handles on the cabinets to SS and noticed how dirty/worn the cabinets are. These are solid oak, raised panel cabinets. They aren't horrible, but not very modern either.

I called Kitchen Tune-up. They can come out and clean cabinets & renew them so they are shiny & the scuffs, dirt are gone. I would also have them change the hinges to ss so they match the handles. We have a large kitchen & the cost is $1250 to clean & $340 to change hinges (34 doors & 14 drawers). I also asked about redooring since the cabinet base is fine -- that would run me about $8000. :scared1: I don't really need a whole refacing. I'm ok with the color, just want a more modern style. Don't want to rip everything out since we just put in new granite countertops (I think that helped make them look older).

Has anyone done this? Is it worth it for the tune up or just go with the re dooring since I'm probably going to want to change them in a few years anyway?

Yes and No.

I have done what you are talking about, but did not pay professionals to do it. My mother got a house with very sturdy cabinets that were not to her style preference. She contacted a local cabinet shop. Since she had standard sized cabinets, she just ordered new door fronts and we installed them ourselves.

We put on new hardware and hinges. It took a weekend, but it was much less expensive than having someone professionally install them. The hard part with cabinets is installing the cases. It looked amazing when she was done with it.

You might price out your cabinet refurb with another vendor. I am sure you can beat that price.

My only problem with this is trying to get the stain to match. We also want to go with full overlay doors to hide the current hinges. Not as easy as what you want. I do have someone else coming tomorrow. I will see what they say.

Thanks.
