Anybody ever upgrade their OS on an Apple?

I have to do it and I'm like a scared little kitty. I don't want to do it but I have to for a DJ program I am gonna use. How did it go? How long did it take? Any problems?

I did, twice, one time it deleted everything, the other time it didn't.

ETA: I don't think it took too long, less than an hour. Not too difficult.

I have done it about 4 times before OS X. I also updated one computer from OS 9.1 to OS X.
Backup everything you don't want to lose before and be careful when you chose what you want to do. Every time I did it, there was a choice of doing a clean install (I'm not sure if that's what it's called, but where everything is erased) or just update the OS. And it also always gave a warning message before the point of no return - like "This will erase all your files. Are you sure you want to do this?"

Almost forgot. When I went from OS 9.1 to OS X, I agree with the other poster that it took less than an hour.

My G3 had OS 8, we've done regular OS upgrades all along, and now have OS X, Tiger. We never had any problems with the upgrades, never took long at all, just be sure to read carefully each step of the way.

I've done this many times... Takes less than an hour... just for safe keeping backup all those important files... If its OS 9 don't forget the prefs in the system directory. I accidently wiped my bosses bookmarks that way. Ooops.
