Anybody here NOT like alcohol? there are alot of threads on alcohol and even though I've never tried it I don't like alcohol, because of personal reasons. I made the choice never to try it. Ever. :goodvibes

"Alcohol" is a really broad category. I challenge anyone to assert that a frozen daiquiri made by a bartender at Whipplesmiths isn't utterly yummy. By the same token, I have a hard time believing that anyone can drink Arak and claim it is "yummy."

However, beyond that, while many people maintain steadfastly that they enjoy alcoholic drinks on their own merits, for many, the intoxicating value overrides any lack with regard to taste or reputation.

In the end, for me, now, alcohol is too caloric, and that's the bottom-line.

Actually I am sure I would not like it... I hate almost all fruits they use in those things! ;)

As for alcohol itself, I more or less have to avoid it now. I used to drink... but no longer. Don't care for the taste of a lot of it now, and what I do like I physically can't tolerate anymore.

I'm not a big fan of drinking alcohol myself. It never tastes good and my belly burns after. Socially, I hang out with people who drink and it doesn't bother me. I have just as much fun at parties/weddings/etc with my Diet Coke and I don't have to spend as much at the bar!!

Not much of a drinker either. Don't like the taste of most of it. I like the fruity ones because they usually don't have as much alcohol in them(depends on who makes them ;) ). I also hate to pay 10 bucks for one so that limits my drinking when dining out. And I would rather have coke or tea when at home. :)

I agree, I cant stand frozen fruity drinks.

However I can drink fire water, or Ketel One with no problem...

Never liked the taste/smell of beer, until I got my John Deere tractor, now there's nothing better than mowin the lawn with a Mich Ultra in the cup holder :rotfl2:

Brandy

I use to drink from the teen years until about 30. It's been about 15 years since I last drank. I just don't like it anymore.

For me, I am not a drinker because I dont enjoy the taste of alcohol. That being said, if its fruity and yummy and i cant taste the liquor, I have no problem drinking it in a social setting. But since I am a lightweight, I will wake up the next day feeling wretched even after only one drink.

I have tried a few things: ie mixed drinks that were fruity tasting, wine, wine coolers. I just do not like the taste of the alcohol itself. All of my drinks have to be virgin (I love virgin strawberry daquiris!). Guess it just makes me a cheap date when DH and I go out! ;)

I am surprised that there are adults who have never tried alcohol. Not even once.

I love it!!

But I seem to like most foods and drink. I have to really try hard not to. I try and save my eating and drinking to the weekends!!!

Must go now to pour another drink (it is saturday!)

DH is allergic to alcohol. The first time he tried it, his head swelled up, his eyes swelled shut and he fainted! Me, on the other hand, I am a big old lush! Just kidding, but I do love my wine! It works out well, because I always have a designated driver!

I have never had a drink that I liked, beer, wine, fruity drinks, nothing, so I just don't do it, I would rather have Diet Coke or something when out.

I hate wine, I hate beer--I can't imagin eanyone thinking they actually taste good(same with coffee LOL)
However I did drink more than my share of beer from age 16-20 because it was the only thing available at parties.
Once I hit 21 and was legal, I switched over to drinking tasty drinks like Malibu Baybreezes, though to be honest I drink maybe once a year.

We never have alcohol in the house, not for any moral reasons, just because neither my husband nor I likes wine or beer(DH will have a very occasional beer if we're at a party) and I'm not going to be mixing up drinks when I can just have a Diet Pepsi. ;)

I've never had a taste for hard alcohol and only rarely enjoy wine or frozen fruity drinks. Usually I'd rather leave it than take it. Suprising considering both my bio parents were alcoholics...or maybe because of it.

I also made the choice to never drink. I have never had alcohol. I'm 38, btw :) DH used to drink socially but quit long before we met. Neither of our parents drink either, although my dad said he once tasted a beer when he was in college and he thought it tasted like horse pee :rotfl: My mom has never tasted alcohol. My parents do not attend events where alcohol is served, but it doesn't bother DH and I if others drink as long as no one is drunk. I don't care that they're drunk, but their behavior is uaully rather...inappropriate. My 20 year class reunion is a great example. Lots of booze but no problems, except for one guy who'd had WAY too much and DH got me away from him pronto! He was scary!

I have a good friend who's Catholic and she loves eating out with me as she knows she can have more than one glass of wine with dinner and I won't make her feel guilty about me being the DD :goodvibes

Laurie :)

PS - I do like virgin drinks, especially pina coladas, so I might like it if I tried it. I had an aunt who was a alcoholic though, and never want to be like that. :(

Used to drink, don't touch the stuff now even though I do still crave a shot of whiskey every now and then. It's just a personal preference.

I drank quite a bit my freshman year in college, but it just got to be too expensive and I gained a lot of weight. Don't care for the taste or getting drunk anymore. I remember the night I went to the bar and spent 60 bucks, that's a lot when you're in college! Man was I mad at myself the next day!

I don't like the hard stuff, but I do like the fruity stuff and Spanish and Portuguese wines.

I learned a few years ago how my Portuguese grandparents and family would gather around apres dinner and have their red wine. It's a healthy tradition so I continue it only for health and cultural reasons.

Then again my paternal uncles on the other side of the family were drunkards and in that case too much of a good thing can be bad and addictive.

I don't care one way or the other. I'll have the occasional fruity, whipped drink (DH calls them "foo-foo drinks").

By the same token, if the doctor told me tomorrow that I could never have another alcoholic beverage again, it wouldn't faze me.

I do not like drinks that taste like alcohol...
but I likealcoholic drinks that taste like soda, fruit, etc... Occasionally I will drink a beer (which I prefer Coors light and get picked on that its like drinking water!)

Laurie31- What does being Catholic have to do with anything...
just curious if I missed a commandment or someting...
