Anybody been on a spiritual retreat?

I know quite a few people that have - and they found it very beneficial to them.. At least two of them were able to get info through their church..

Hope that helps..:goodvibes

I've been on a Christ Renews His PArish retreat at my church which is a Christian retreat! It was a wonderful weekend of witnessing and surprises. The cool thing is the retreatants then do the next one. Our parish has had them going for more than a decade.

Our diocese also has a retreat center somewhere in Central Florida that will do different kinds of retreats throughout the year.

What type of retreat are you looking for and some us may be able to help you locate one? (i.e. what type of spiritual retreat--I've seen zen, christian, meditation--a variety of retreats advertised here and there.)

I've been on a few. I have found out about them through my church. They are always a time of reflection and renewal.

I have a client who does a silent retreat once a year. It sounds amazing to me. I would love to do one of those because I like silence actually but am not around it for long. I think it would be an amazing experience.

Good luck!

I have been on several and actually met my husband on one. When we lived in Chicago, there was a Catholic retreat house that hosted retreats all year 'round. They weren't specifically Catholic; they did all sorts of topics from couples retreats to spiritual renewal through walking (they had a labyrinth...walking those is a very meditative experience). Sadly, it got bought by the county and closed last year. But if you search online, you can probably find out whether you have any retreat houses in your area.

Our church does a women's retreat every winter. It's fabulous- alot of bonding, comradery, and some fun spiritual elements too.

The state church conference owns the center (big ol' family home on a lake). It's only about 30 minutes away (but a world away.) Unfortunately though, economy as it is, they have decided they can no longer afford to keep the property. It will be sold (or they will try anyway) next year. :sad1:

Interesting. I was thinking of this beautiful monastery about 30 minutes away. I've never been on one but I've been to weekend workshops on music where you go home at the end of the day.

Should be enlightening to google the various kinds of retreats.
