Any word on reopening of Harmony Barbershop?

My grandson will have just turned 2 when we visit in November, and his mom is debating holding out on the first haircut if there's a good chance the barbershop will reopen?

I am also interested. Our oldest had his first haircut there and I would absolutely love his brother to have the same experience. I Google and search here every few weeks but I think the blogs will be all over it. I am hopeful that the rumors that BBB is starting to hire is a good sign.

I know it is anyone's guess anymore but what were waits like for this when it was open? We are wanting to attempt this too.

You used to be able to book so many days in advanced like dining and that was the best way to get a spot. I don't recall that they even take walk ins because the time slots all fill up in advance!

Agreed that it had to be booked in advance. When we did it 5 years ago I remember calling and waiting on hold forever. I see on the official Disney site that it appears you will be able to book online when it comes back. It is super tiny (3 chairs if I recall properly) so I highly doubt that they will accept walk ins, but you never know

I definitely think BBB is a big indication Harmony will open sooner rather than later-IMHO. :)

Also the return of the Epcot World Showcase Cultural Representatives beginning in August is another VERY significant milestone.

The "Return To Normalcy Snowball" is really rolling now.

I think Harmony being open by November is VERY likely!

I had asked when I was on the phone with Disney for another reason last week, just to see if the CM knew. Haha. I know… good luck..
They just said, keep checking the site because places are opening in stages.
My DS wants a haircut there too. Yes, a teen wants a haircut at Harmony. :-)

Pre-COVID they had 2-3 slots every hour for walk-ins (it was either 0/20/40 or 0/30 on their schedules). You could walk-in and wait or reserve one of these slots for later in the day.

Source: For 3 years we were there about twice a year with 2 boys and always did walk-in.

EDIT: Just realized I didn't actually answer your question. Usually we'd get there soon after park opening and put our name in. Sometimes it was "step right up", others it was about 30-45 min, and still others we would reserve a slot later in the day.

The fact that various things are gradually being added back suggests to me it will eventually reopen. When will be the burning question.

I'm sure The DIS Unplugged will announce that, and the news will be posted here somewhere.

As for walk-ins, I appeared there a few days before Christmas once and got a fabulous haircut after roughly a 15-20 minute wait. Whodathunkit then of all times of year? Maybe it was Christmas magic?

Just give it a try if willing to wait or return later. For a child that young, I'd advise booking in advance.

Been waiting to get this one her first haircut until it opened but I think we are hitting the break point if it doesn't open soon657970

I am anxiously waiting, too. My 2.5 year old still hasn't gotten a haircut because I keep holding out (even then, we won't be trimming much as he doesn't really "need" a big cut yet).

My DH walked in several times in years past for a cut! My guess is the pent-up demand will cause them to use just reservations for awhile but once that evens out, maybe go back to allowing them on a limited basis. Who knows!

With the current phone wait times, I am just hopeful the reservation system will be online once it does reopen!
