Just got new laptop for DW and a wireless router.

I've set up the router on my broadband though the router and that works fine. I've also setup the WEP security on the router.

I'm trying to get the laptop to connect to the router now - it sees my SSID but when I select connect it just drops out and says it can't find the router anymore.

Any clues on what I'm doing wrong?

PM on its way.DH is the expert not me:rolleyes1

Hope you got it sorted, I spent all day tuesday trying to connect the new laptop at work to our existing network - what they don't tell you when you buy a new pc/laptop is that windows vista doesnt like talking to windows xp, along with many other programs!! Work got the laptop from pc world so my colleague took it back and they gave her the tech guys number to call. When I called them they said we hadn't purchased insurance or software support so they couldnt help us! The lovely man on the phone did tell me where on the microsoft website to download a patch for xp. I did this and after making both firewalls trust the connections ( I forget that one every time!) we were up and running, sharing the printer and document files.

My brain did hurt by the end of the day though!

I made sure the new lptop had XP installed!

A few people I know have had problems with Vista and compatability with existing software etc.
Vista also eats memory!!

I've now manage to setup a local WiFi network and share our printer :)

I've just got a new laptop with Vista Premium, and I must be the only person who thinks it's great. I have had no trouble at all either setting it up to work wireless through my home hub, or in it's actual working. It's great!

Add me to the happy users list. I upgraded from XP to Vista Home Premium and the only thing I had to do was install new drivers for my graphics card to get Aero working.
