For the past couple weeks I've been having a big problem....

A couple weeks ago I ran the application known as "OnyX", which is basically the equivalent of "Defrag" and "Maintenance Wizard" on a PC. I've used OnyX about once a month for the last couple years now, but after using it this time I had a major problem: Every time I use a web browser it automatically closes on me within about 5 minutes of starting the application and I get a message that says either "Safari-bin closed unexpectedly" or "Firefox-bin closed unexpectedly", etc.

I've had Safari crash on me in the past, but I've never had the term "bin" used in the error message before. Does anyone know what this means?

I'm using OS 10.3.9, and have gotten just about every update that was made. (Since Macs are now selling with OS 10.5 or higher they're not making any more updates for my version.)

Any help is appreciated. :sad1:

Will do. I have a friend coming over to help tomorrow, so I'm hoping for the best.

Sorry doll -
Always have - and always will be a Mac user-
but don't know that problem-
Have you thought of reinstalling the effected programs?
Sounds like a corruption.

Nelson is useless, well, to you anyway (but I need laundry done and the trash taken out tonight, so hopefully he wont be useless to me).

He did not recognize the error but said that you should check the discussion boards in the support section of the Apple website. He says there is a spot where you can enter your question and get answers... He hopes that helps.

A corruption that affects all web browsers? :guilty: The problem is I can't get on any of the sites I need to get the installs.

Okay, thank you. The Apple web site is one of the pages that makes the browsers crash the fastest. :sad2: It's weird.

Update:

My friend says it seems like a hardware problem.....which means I may go several months without internet access. (I'm using my roomie's new MacBook to post this. Actually...........I'm in a hospital cafeteria waiting on my roomie to get a colonoscopy..........but that's another story. I was surprised--The cheeseburger with provolone was a lot better than the burger I had at Cosmic Ray's. )
Soooooo.....yeah. This stinks. He's coming over again tomorrow to attempt to purge my hard drive and reinstall my operating system. Hopefully he has an external hard drive big enough to hold everything I have on my computer. :sad1: :sad1:

Good Luck! I don't think external hard drives are that expensive though... my husband has 7 hooked up to his computer... (he used to do wedding videos)....

Well.....unfortunately.....anything over $1.50 I can't afford right now. :lmao: My friend has several external drives at his job he has access to, so hopefully one of those is large enough to temporarily hold my hard drive while he purges the old one.

I hear ya... I am doing a little better... I could afford about $2.00 :lmao:

I hope it works out for you...

Thank you.

You know.....I should start one of those drives on the DIS: "Money for MM!" :thumbsup2

You should post that shirless picture of you along with the "Money for MM" mesage. You'll make a fortune!

Good luck MM-
computer problems are so frustrating :headache:

Sometimes I feel so stupid when it comes to computers. It's the one thing that makes me want to dropkick kittens.

I get so frustrated. Good luck with the Mac issues.
