I do not know if this is even possible. Are there any coupon codes that will allow a discount, on even free, for checked luggage on US Airways? DD and myself are traveling to Disney for our first mother/daughter only trip - yeah!!

We are going to combine our clothes into one bigger bag so we will not have to lug around a big suitcase and Disney can just take it off our hands at the airport.

Anyway, any little savings will help. Does anyone have a coupon code they will not be using? I would really appreicate it.

Thanks and have a great 4th!:yay:

Not aware of any way to waive the baggage fees other than having Star Alliance Silver or higher frequent flyer status.

If you're planning on only taking one bag - make sure to watch the weight. One overweight bag (more than 50lbs) will cost you more than two underweight bags. For a small trip this shouldn't be an issue, but the longer you stay, the more clothing you need.

I wasn't sure. I do not fly very often, so thought I would ask. Thanks for the reply.

I know that this isn't your original question but we always just do carry ons now. We stop at Wal Mart for toiletries/water(or I've also done a grocery store delivery service) and just bring a few outfits. I use the laundry rooms at the hotel to wash clothes. It's just much easier and less costly than dealing with a suitcase for us. I know this plan wouldn't work for everyone but it works for our family of 5.

Just an idea I thought I would share.

The answer can be found on the airlines website:

Who is exempt from first and second checked bag fees?

The first and second checked bag fees do not apply to:

All Dividend Miles Preferred members (Silver, Gold, Platinum and Chairman’s Preferred)
Star Alliance Silver and Gold status members
Passengers traveling to/from the Middle East or Brazil
Confirmed First Class and Envoy passengers
Active U.S. military personnel with ID (1st through 3rd bag up to 100 lbs/45 kg)
Unaccompanied minors (as long as you've paid the UM fee)

Remember the cost to check an overweight bag is substantially more then the cost to check an additional bag. The cost to check a bag which is overweight and oversized is likely to be more expensive then your ticket.

If you can fly Southwest or Jet Blue, they do not charge for luggage. I know Southwest allows 2 bags per passenger and I think Jet Blue is 1 bag.

Enjoy your trip.
