I'm on hold with Sprint right now but I thought I might get an answer quicker here. Last night some woman started calling my cell phone and accusing me of sleeping with her husband. The number comes up as restricted on my caller id. Is there anyway to find out the number?

We had an issue once where someone was blocking their phone# and then calling and harassing on of my DD's. We had to go through the police dept. They in turn contact your phone company to get the records. After this, you finally find out who made the call. Believe me, this process doesn't happen overnight!!

I would think you would have to contact the police. If you just want the calls to stop your best bet is to change your number.

So you've been sleeping with Mrs. Restriced's husband, and she finally caught on, aye? ;)

I dunno... have you called your phone company?

The most simple thing I can think of is don't answer the phone when the number comes up as "restricted". Also turn off the phone at night. If someone you know needs to get a hold of you in an emergency, they can call one of the other family-numbers.

Is this some stranger that just seems to have a phone number wrong? Does she (God forbid) have any information correct, maybe refer to you by name? Or is she calling you "Susan" when your name is actually "Gloria"?

If she leaves *any* nasty messages on your voice-mail, DO NOT ERASE THEM, no matter how disturbing they are. Figure out a way to keep a record of these calls. Contact the police department if this harassment continues.

agnes!

Lol I barely have time to sleep with my own husband.
I just got off the phone with Sprint. They can't give me the restricted number so I asked if I could block my phone from receiving calls from restricted numbers. She told me sure no problem then asked for the phone number. Umm... if I knew it I wouldn't be calling you.
I guess I will just wait and see what happens over the weekend before I go to the police. She called this afternoon and I told her I had her phone number and would call the police if she called again. I haven't heard from her since so maybe that is a good sign.

Can you manage your account online? Maybe you got a dim-bulb when you called Sprint...I would think there should be a way to block calls using your online account manager.

.

Same thing happened to me when i was talking to someone at Verizon, my cell phone stopped working so i called from my home phone. I told them this and I gave them my cell number and told them it wasnt working, the girl on the other end asked if I was calling from the cell phone!!!:confused3 A real rocket scientist!! lol

that is strange. did it sound like anyone you know?

No, it sounds like an older woman with a heavy accent, I think it might be Italian. She isn't rude at all just tells me it is immoral and a sin to be sleeping with a married man. She did threaten to call my husband and tell him so I told her to go ahead. She called about a dozen times last night and never left a voicemail.

I went on the Sprint site and found how to block specific numbers but there was nothing about blocking restricted ones. I will try to call again after dinner.

Sorry, but I was also LOL as I completely understand. If I was inclined to ren around, time would prevent it, ha ha!

Anyway. I don't have any knowledge of how to get the number, but sorry that this nutjob ended up with your number.

I could block my phone from receiving calls from restricted numbers.

Be careful with this. You may block calls you want or need. For example, if you have kids most teachers have restricted number. You would now be unable to get calls from those teachers. Someone you may know might have a restricted number or have to call you in an emergency from a phone that has a restricted number.

I don't know if this is possible but next time this lady calls maybe try to reason with her. Instead of just hanging up talk to her for a few minutes and let her know she must have a wrong number because you have no idea what she is talking about. She might know her husband is cheating and got the number wrong.

If that doesn't work I would go to the police. She is in the wrong but sometimes a little diplomacy goes a long way.

you need to file a police report.; They will follow up wth the phone company.

Sorta the same thing actually happened to me a couple years ago. I get a call from an out of town number, and I pick up. The woman on the other end is screaming at me for sleeping with her husband. I tried to tell her she must have had the wrong number. She didn't have any of it. She's screaming, and cussing at me. So I hang up. She calls back, still screaming at me. Finally, I said to her "What number did you call?" She's yelling she knows which number she called, she's not an idiot. So I asked her again. She tells me in a rather colorful language that she called 556.... and I am 565 (not the real numbers). So I asked her to look at her dialed calls. She looks at it, says "Oh". And then hangs up.

LOL, I was thinking the same thing.

TO the OP. You may well not hear from the woman again since the police threat, but if she calls again, I'd make good the threat. You never know, she may well be a lunatic who needs help.
