I have a feeling I know the answer to this...we’ll be at Disney for a week in February and my sister would like to join us for the weekend. So she can buy a two or three day ticket, but can I add her to the room somehow so she can use DME without having to add her for the week - and buy seven days of tickets? If I can’t, then I guess she’ll have to Uber.

HiSarah! My daughter always visits us for a few days while we at WDW. We don't add her to the reservation. I just go to the front desk and let them know she is going to be visiting from x day to x day. Sometimes they charge us, but usually they don't. One CM said to tell them that she is a day guest, and there is no charge, even if she is there a few days. I have done this too, but usually just let them know we have a guest and let them decide whether to charge or not. She doesn't use DME because she isn't registered. She just gets a limo service, hasn't tried uber yet. She has had great results with the limo's. They are always on time to pick up and to return her to the airport.
Have a great visit with your sister:)

As others have said, you can add her when you arrive at the resort front desk. If she is arriving after you, once you have added her to the room, you can call DME (or ask the resort concierge to help you) and give them her flight info so she can utilize DME as well.
