I was just wondering if anyone out there is a dvc member who has done a vr. DH and I are wanting to do a VR sometime in 2011 and we would like to use our points to allow family members to all be able to stay in the same resort. Has anyone else ever done this? How do accommodations work? We will probably have around 33 guests. When we first got married 13 years ago it was only us, the preacher and some wild ponies on an island. This time we want our families to be there. Any information, advice or help would be appreciated. Thank you.

I am a DVC member and DH and I are renewing our vows this Nov. We didn't have enough points(we have 200 and are always borrowing into the next year lol!) for all our guests(60) but we had enough for my sisters family and my MIL. It is very easy to make the ressie by calling MS. All they want to know is the name, address and phone # of the people staying in each room. The confirmations are mailed to you, then you can just send them to your family members. You can book as many rooms as you want as long as you have the points.

When you are having a "Wishes" VR you have to guarantee Disney a certain amount of room nights on Disney property. DVC ressies count towards those room nights. You just have to send those ressie #'s to your planner.

Most of our guests want to stay at the same resort(AKV) too. So, for the rest of my guests they will stay at the lodge and DFTW offers them about a 25% discount off the rack rate.

Let me know if you have any other questions!:)

We aren't DVC members but the best man was and as his wedding gift he used his points for part of our stay. It seemed really easy he called and made the reservation in our name and that was it.

I have also rented points for our stay(heck of a lot cheaper than a nights stay) and they have always put the reservation in my name and we have no trouble checking in.

I don't know how many people you would have staying with you, but if you have enough points I'm sure you could find something.

I can't really help as far as VR's, but am a DVC member and we used points for our Wishes wedding in December.

We used our points for 4 different rooms for various family members and friends during our stay @ the BW (our home resort) the week before the wedding: 2 studios, a 1 bedroom, and a grand villa. All the room reservations counted towards our room minimum- it was a great deal! (the 1 BR counts as 2 rooms, GV counts as 4!) Just be sure to give ALL reservation #'s to your WP & be sure they know which reservation is for which room type so you have the correct counts.

As I said, we had room reservations in a few different names and hotel keys for every single person (whether they were family or friends) in their name. It is not a problem and DVC has always been great about that and since your still making your reservation thru Member Services-- it'll be the same. As previously stated- you simply have to give the name of EVERY person staying in each room so Disney knows. :thumbsup2

Yes, DFTW does give a Discount for other hotel selections (ours was abut 30%), but our guests were over in the BW Inn rather than the Villas. That goes for all the resorts except for OKW and Saratoga. (since it's all villas anyway)

Hope this helps you a little bit. Any questions~ I'm more than happy to help as much as I can. :)
