Any Villa type resorts or very nice resorts closer to UCF than the parks?

Hi, we are planning on touring UCF around Thanksgiving time and may want to spend a few days there and only 1 or 2 days in the parks on this trip. We just returned from a trip where we stayed on property but this time would probably need to spend a little less so would stay off property and maybe even try a few things other than the parks (gasp!)...So want to get excited about a place to stay that might actually be closer to the UCF area to get a real feel for that part of Orlando instead... Any ideas?

you can try. think most of the offsite places near UCF are for students not visitors - but not sure.

I know there is a Hampton Inn, Marriot Courtyard, Comfort Suites, right close to there but was thinking/hoping for something more of a Resort (probably Resort is more preferred than Villa type) and it does not have to be THAT close to UCF....was just wondering what is up this way a little closer to UCF than the parks since we are very familiar with the Disney area and not familiar with this area (which is where my daughter would be going to college so want to get a feel for it)

Actually, you might consider looking for something along the space coast. Titusville is probably closer to UCF than the Disney area of Orlando, which is where the Orlando area resorts tend to be clustered. Certainly will be a lot less traffic coming in from the coast than fighting across Orlando.

I can't think of any resorts in the area East of MCO, so you will be travelling a bit either direction.

I can’t think of any resorts anywhere near UCF (I’m an alumnus). You could look at hotels in downtown Orlando, which would at least give you a better feel of what the city is like. The Grand Bohemian is lovely, and I’ve heard good things about Aloft. In nearby Winter Park is the Alfond Inn, which is also supposed to be beautiful.

If your DD is by any chance interested in Hospitality, UCF’s Rosen College is basically connected to the Rosen Shingle Creek Resort. A lot of students work at the resort.

If you have any questions about the area or the school let me know!

While there are hotels near UCF they are morYour best bet would be staying at a hotel in Downtown Orlando which would give you the best feel for the REAL city of Orlando and UCF is only about a 20 minute drive east of downtown.. You will not find any resorts but you can find some great hotels such as the Grand Bohemian which is a top rated hotel in the area..

I have 2 places in Orlando, one is about a mile from UCF and we are there now. I know the area well enough and can't think of any. There might be a place off Curryford Rd called Ventura. They used to have villas. But I would not stay in that area.

Our son is a student at UCF. When we come down to visit, we stay near Disney. It's a bit of a drive from the UCF area (around 45 minutes), but more fun to be in the Disney area. We have Starwood points, so Sheraton Vistana Resort is a favorite if we aren't staying on property. If you want to stay closer to UCF, airport area hotels are only about 25 minutes from UCF. I can't think of any "resort" type hotels near main campus.

thank you!! I guess I never realized how large the Orlando area really is...I was shocked to learn that the Disney parks could be 45 minutes away from UCF. Maybe we will spend a couple of nights right near UCF and then we will switch to a different area...thanks all!
