Any tricks for cleaning mini blinds?

I got this hint from a good friend - mix equal parts vinegar and water in a spray bottle. Spray blinds and wipe with a dryer sheet - worked really well for me. I did need to use more than one dryer sheet, though. Good luck!

I put mine in the bathtub, and soak in a solution of super hot water and ammonia for about an hour, and then rinse with the shower head. Unless they're super dirty (like hairspray residue, etc.) they come clean without scrubbing.

When I do mine I usually have quite a few and I try to hold off and do them in the summer months.

When I had a clothes line this is what I did...
I hung each blind on the clothes line using plastic grocery bags as ties. Opened them up completely and hosed them down with straight water from the hose. Then I mixed up some ammonia & water with a splash of dawn dish soap. Put that in a Miracle Grow container attachement that attaches to the hose and washed them down completely. Gave them all a final rinse and let them air dry. No wiping, no brushing. Worked like a charm.

Now since I don't have the line anymore, I put them in the tub with the same ammonia and dawn. Swish them around and then rinse. Got to admit it is a bigger pain in the...then taking them outside.

I use a dryer sheet to clean them. Helps keep the dust away a lot longer. I also do the same thing with the base boards.

I vacume mine. I close them all the way on one side and vacume them. Repeat for the other side. You can also buy a special attachment for your vacume to do both sides at once. I have one but have yet to try it. I have found it to be easy enough without it.

If they are in the kitchen and are greasy use 409 on a rag or paper towel and wipe them down. I have not had a need to take mine down in order to get them cleaned.

I also vacume my baseboards. Every now and than they need wiped down though. To wipe them down I use a clorox wipe.

I do something similar only I use lysol or mr. clean as I can't stand the smell of ammonia.
