Any travel agents (or guests) have a hint as to when Genie is starting?

It is based on : ROTR VQ stopping on Sept 22 and Sept 23- 25 only gives Disney about a week till Oct 1st.

I just dont understand the people who say they are struggling. Some folks act like they can't go on vacation without being able to plan every single second of their trip. Disney is likely NOT going to announce it in advance so their first few days (when major kinks will need to be worked out) won't have a stampede of people outside the gates at 4am. Plan your trip with the info you have now and if something changes, address it then. All this worrying and stressing and wondering is wasted energy and you're just making yourself miserable.

I disagree - for me, it's the opposite. We don't really plan much of anything other than ADR's. So, since we don't bother to plan-out every step, it makes it more likely that we will be stuck in long queues without some type of line-expediting service.

I'm anxious to know about G+ because we head to WDW in 2 weeks, and personally, I would rather pay for a short line than plan out a strict daily schedule and/or stand in lines all day.

I think for me I am inclined to just read this as meaning that if it isn’t a particularly low season, ticket prices have gone up 15 per person and wait times have increased for top attractions-short of successful 30min early rope drops anyway.

What am I missing? Why would there be people lining up at 4am if they announced G+?

The same reason people were lining up like 2-3 hours early for park opening at DHS when you got ROTR BG from inside the park. If off-site guests can't book LL times until they tap in, a lot of people will be there stupid-early to try to be in the first throng of people through the gates so they can immediately stop and book their first LL return/IA$$ times. It's ridiculous and unnecessary, but that's never stopped people before.

Sorry but I don’t see genie or lightening lane having the same effect…you are comparing something that was free to something that costs money.

And you are underestimating the amount of people who will blindly throw their money at Disney without blinking an eye. I'm convinced if Disney asked people to give them their blood, they would.

A family of 4 could cut 1 character meal from their trip and pay for Genie. It -will- become a **** show just like all the other "mob mentality" affected areas of Disney.

not working out so great for the overpriced Christmas parties…every product, experience, etc has its limit.

ask Apple…people aren’t upgrading iPhones like they used too. Everyone used to buy a new cell phone every cycle. Now that they are $1200 people have transitioned into 3-4 year cycles.

Disney is not immune to bad business practices or screwing over the customer

I didn't see anything being a good enough reason to line up 3-4 hours before the park opens, but literally hundreds of thousands of people did over months and months, so clearly I don't understand park-goers these days! I didn't say it made sense for them to line up early, I just made an assumption about why the OP referenced it.

Some folks spend months saving and planning their budget for their trip and since this a service that costs money (and may end up being quite pricey depending on the price of those a la carts attractions) that's likely a big reason for stress for some.

I just can't see Disney not providing a notice of at least a couple of weeks for official Genie+ launch. I'm on board for the change, but I would be very frustrated if I had a client who was ON THEIR TRIP armed with the plans I created for them and the information I provided for how to navigate their trip, only to have that turned upside down with no notice in the middle of their vacation. Considering that they even provided adequate notice for RoTR returning to standby to give people time to adjust their plans, I find it unlikely that they would change the ENTIRE way that their parks operate overnight. That would just be a terrible customer service and optics decision. Of course, you never know. I guess we'll see!
