We are staying in Treasure Island before we head up to WDW, and DH really wants to see a ball game. Any tips for those who may have done so before ? Another question: do they usually serve shelled peanuts there ? Our ds has a peanut allergy and I'm a little nervous.
There is no MLB where we live :confused3
Thanks !!:thumbsup2

The nearest is the Tamp Bay Rays. Really nice and friendly place. Stadium has lots to do beside watching the game, be sure to go by the stingray tank. The stadium is enclosed so don't worry about th e weather and even the cheap seats give you a good few. Also if you're near the city of Tampa, check out the website for the Tampa bay bucccaneers football. We were able to take a tour of the stadium. It was right before they held the superbowl there. Enjoy!!:drive:

How long are you in Florida? The Toronto Blue Jays are playing in Tampa on the weekend of April 23-25 (Fri-Sun). From April 12-22, the Rays are on the road, so there would be no games in Tampa.

They serve shelled peanuts at Tropicana Stadium. They are Southern Boiled Peanuts. I tried them once, but I didn't care much for them.

You can purchase Rays tickets at: http://tampabay.rays.mlb.com

I bought our tickets last month for our trip in August. We're going to see the Red Sox. We saw the Red Sox in Tampa during our 2007 Disney trip.

I don't know if they still do it, but the last time we went, we had 4 people in our car, so we got free parking in the stadium parking lot.

Cool ! Thanks for the feedback !
We won't be there till the last week of May, so it will be too late for the Jays :-(
(too bad, b/c we're Canadian !)

We will go somewhere from the 29th of May. There will be 5 in our car, so maybe we'll get free parking too :goodvibes

Thanks again - DH is REALLY looking forward to it, and DS (5) will sure love it too !:scared1::scared1:

There will be Minor League teams in Florida in May, played at the MLB teams' Spring Training park. Would you be interested in any of those?

We actually got our baseball tickets in the mail today. We are going on April 30 seated in the cheap seats above home plate. Tickets cost $18 and the night we are going - they are giving free t-shirts to the first 10,000 fans so we plan on being there early. We have a rental car so decided to take a day and go to Clearwater beach first then over to the ball game. We went last August to the Red Sox against Tampa game and it was a lot of fun.

The only wisdom I have for you is to make sure you leave early in the day and don't arrive in Tampa during rush hour - it took about 3 1/2 hours to get to the Stadium in St Petersburg and only 1 hour and 20 minutes to come back to Disney with very little traffic - we did leave the game early in the 7th inning to avoid the crowds.

We parked downtown and they had a shuttle bus that drove you to the game - I think the parking was about $10 and shuttle was free. We did tip the driver though.

The games are a lot of fun so I recommend trying to fit it into your schedule.

We plan on going to a game too when we are there in May. Do you have to order the tickets beforehand or can you buy them the day of? We plan on going May 2nd and I can't remember who they are playing, but I don't think it was anyone that good. We really jsut like to check out stadiums so we won't need good seats. Just like to eat the food and walk around. Thanks.

For the Rays, you can usually always (save for the Sox or the Yankees and even then...) walk up the day of and get good seats.
