Hi! We are having a homestudy done this week for our upcoming adoption. Just curious if anyone has any tips on how to get dog hair of furniture (other than the obvious - keep pets off furniture! lol!). Thanks in advance! :)

I get those lint brush rollers and refills and just pretend the chair is one of my sweaters :)

Ugh.....we have two cats and I have try to vacume the furniture once a day. If I forget or have no time, the hair just grows and grows.

As much as I hate to, when I know it will be a busy week, I lay old towels at the cat's favorite spot. It looks awful, but if I know visitors are coming, I just take them off.

I would say vacume, vacume, vacume.

Sorry.....no easy answer.

Hey Lynette!!!! Good luck on the home study. I'm so excited for you!

I use the lint roller brushes too. Sam's usually has a great deal on them so I've got them everywhere around here. But I do usually try to keep the hair off of the couch by keeping a sheet over it. Then when company comes over I take the sheet off and hide it. :p I have to cheat somehow.

I don't know about you, but my dog just doesn't understand that the couch doesn't belong to her! She does have HER OWN recliner.

That's too funny. When I saw that this was posted by you, I was wondering if it was so you could impress the social worker. :)

I agree that vaccuuming and lint brushes are the best way. For things like comforters, just toss them in the dryer. I guess if you happen to have slip covers, that would work on them too. But for regular upholstered furniture, you have to suck it up or get off with something sticky.

If it's a dog, you can really get rid of a lot of the hair on the dog after you've cleaned the furniture if you bathe him and then brush him. Bathing first loosens the hair.

I use the lint roller thingies, got several of them stategically placed around the house.:teeth:

Continued good wishes as you move along the 'process', Lynette. And no ideas beyond the lint brush from me.

Thanks everyone! I will be sure to pick up lint brushes tomorrow!!! Then, maybe use sheets or covers until Tuesday! :) Great ideas!

Thanks for well wishes! Everything seems to be going smoothly! According to the liason between us and the birthparents, the baby is progressing! Still waiting on final decision to made hopefully by middle of next week! :) :) :) :)

Sheets are MUCH cheaper! ;) I started using the sheets because we got a different size bed and I didn't have anything else to do with the old sheets. Do you want me to send one your way?

so I know all about cat hair.

In a pinch, I use packing tape off the roll and kindof do a dab and lift or sometimes a scrap down the sides motion.

Another method that I use and it does keep things smelling fresh. I vaccum as best as I can. Do the tape thing and then I take a bucket of warm water, mix with about a 1/2 cup of clear amonia and a wash cloth. I dampen the wash cloth, ring out pretty good and wash my furniture, that will bring up the excess hair and dust. Air dry and your good to go. You'd be surprised at how dirty your furniture is.

Good Luck!

Like everyone else I use lint brushes and I vacummed up what is left over. Good luck on the adoption, keep us posted. :D
