Hello,
I have an HP Photosmart R817.
I have the book, but it doesn't include too much information. I guess they're saving money by directing you to their site to get more info.

If anyone uses a regular digital camera, not those beautiful SLR cameras, can you give me some tips?

Something that bugs me:
Photo takes too long to "take". Right now I have a 128 mb card in the camera, but I'm awaiting a 2 gb card. Supposedly, the more gigs on the card, the faster the photo is taken?

Thank you :)

If by "take the picture" you are talking about the lag time between when you push the shutter button and the time the photo is actually taken, then no, a larger card will not help.
When people take about a faster memory card, they are refering to the time it takes to write the information from the camera's buffer to the card and the time it takes to send the information from the card to a computer.
But again, just because a card holds more photos, that does not mean it is faster.
I have cards from 256mb to 2gb and they all have about the same write time.

Yes, that's what I mean.....Oh, well. I guess with that type of instant action you need one of those more advanced cameras.
Does anyone still use regular film? I like the convenience of being able to take action shots, and getting the actual action! :goodvibes

not all digi camera's have a lag time that is really problematic.
my old camera--a kodak cx7430 was really quick!

I didn't mean to imply that all digital cameras had a long lag time, just that getting a bigger memory card alone doesn't help the problem.

I use a Nikon D2x, a D2h and a D70, which of course don't have the problem, the D2s can shoot at a rate of 8fps and the D70 3fps. But I also have a Nikon 4300 on which the lag time is terrible.

I have never used any other brands of high end point and shoot digital cameras, but I would think that the techology has gotten better and lag times shorter.
