My DH and I are trying to plan a trip for this coming Sept. I saw good reviews of Maingate and thought we would try it. We have two daughters, one who will be 11 months and one who will be 4.

Has anyone stayed at this hotel?

We've stayed there several times. Rooms are large, clean and well maintained (I believed they renovated all the suites in 2005). The staff is great and it's reasonable walking distance (15 minutes w/little ones) to DL. The ART shuttle stops there at the hotel, so you have that option as well.

We like the place because of the large suites (we usually stay in the 1-bedroom). The full kitchen comes in handy when you don't want to shell out every single hard earned dollar you have. And the bedroom is nice (especially at night)... since we can put the kiddos to bed and we can watch tv in the living room until we're ready to go to bed.

They offer a continental breakfast (everyday) and evening snacks (Mon-Thurs only). The staff has always been great... and very helpful.

My only recommendation is that if anyone in your party is a light sleeper, make sure you request a room AWAY from the street... their pretty heavily traveled (at all hours) and it can be disturbing if you're a light sleeper. :thumbsup2

So have you used the shuttle? I am really worried that we will spend a long time each day waiting for the shuttle. I am so torn. I want a suite because of the little ones but I also want to be close to Disney.

Sorry for the delay in replying...

Yep... we've used the shuttle MANY times (at closing time, however, it's faster to walk). It runs about every 20 minutes and is pretty reliable about that. If you wanted to walk (when your little ones legs are nice and rested - or daddy's shoulders can handle the trip :thumbsup2 ).... it's about a 10-15 minute walk.

The convenience of the suite (and the reasonable price) is WELL worth the the little walk (it's about two blocks). Having a full kitchen and a bedroom with a DOOR is SOOOOOOO nice to have when you have little ones!

If you have any other questions.... I'll be happy to answer them for ya :goodvibes

I have to agree. For the 6 of us it works out well. We have never noticed the traffic noise because we are too exhausted. We love the breakfast and the service. Manager, Michele Valedez is wonderful.

Is this a different Residence Inn then the Residence Inn Anaeim Resort? If so maybe I should post another thread inquiring about that property.

This is our favorite place to stay at DL. The location is great, the rooms are huge and clean, the pool is decent and it's relatively quiet.

Yep, there's a difference. The 'Residence Inn Anaheim Resort' is on Harbor Boulevard, technically in the city of Garden Grove... and I want to say it's somewhere around 2 miles from DL (it may be slightly closer than that). 'Residence Inn Anaheim MAINGATE' is on Clementine and is just about 2 blocks away from DL.
