Any thoughts on HH at Spring break/Easter?

I'm thinking of going for a few nights at the end of March, 2005 and wondering what the weather might be like and the activities. I know in the summer there are fireworks on Tuesdays, and I just was wondering if there is anything special during spring breaks? Will we be able to enjoy the ocean or will it be too cold. I know the pools are heated (we were there last January and my kids swam when the weather was in the 50's!).

Any experience would be great. Thanks.

Hi!

While I know there are others with far more experience than us at HH, but we've been the past two spring breaks (one of which coincided with Easter)...both the last week of March/first of April.

We had really nice weather--though I know the week before us was apparently not so good. We swam in the pools both times--mostly the beach house pool which I find to be warmer. The kids got in the ocean up to the tops of their legs (but mine are still fairly little).

There are always fun activities--bingo, campfires, magic shows, kayaking, dolphin cruises, etc... No fireworks, but its own fun nonetheless.

We will go back for Spring Breaks again in the future.

Hope this helps.

Laura

I was there this past March, during the 3rd week. There was nothing special going on. (no fireworks or such like in summer). The pools were open even though it rained for 5 days straight. Weather never went above 52 while I was there, but maybe that was unusual. I had never been in March, but I did enjoy the Members Get-Together one night at the Beach House. Met several nice DVC'ers and even some from the DIS.

There was one thing special, though, but not in HH. The St. Patrick's Day parade in Savannah was on t.v. and looked to be a huge event. I really enjoyed watching it my first day there, but I felt bad for those who had worked so hard for it because it poured rain during the entire parade.

And we were there the week beforehand. It started raining the day we left! We went during College spring break here, the second week. We were somewhat concerned since near where we live has been voted the wildest Spring Break location in the US (South Padre Island), and we wondered if HH, being a beach location, would be at all the same. Boy, were we wrong! Very family oriented, great weather for bike riding and beach walking, lots of people swimming in the hotel pools. Our last day, we tried to change ressies, but they said they were at 100% capacity. Personnally, I think it's the best time to go to HHI.

We were there for Easter last year. This kids swam every day, even though I thought it a bit chilly for my tastes. They had an Easter Egg hunt on Sunday which was wonderful. The plastic eggs were empty. They kids gathered them into bags that were provided and then traded their bags of eggs for a goody bag. Much nicer than a bag full of candy, and you got the same prize no matter how many eggs you found. There was one gold and one silver egg for some kind of bonus prize. The groups were separated by age, and it all went extremely smoothly. I was impressed.

I was thinking that it would be nice for biking and walking and I know my kids will hop into the pool no matter what (they will be 10, 13, 15 and 17 in 3/05). I'm not sure they will miss not being in the ocean, though. My oldest isn't too thrilled about HH, since the two times we've been it has rained (once just driving through and the other time was two nights in Jan. last year).

I'll have to think about it. I'd really like to go in the summer, but whenever I've made reservations, I've always ended up changing them to WDW! :earsgirl:
