When is the best price for tickets to LAX?
I think that I may have missed it for a trip in June. Prices are now about $60 each way more than a few weeks ago. Part of me says bite the bullet now but then I look at the flight calendar and flights this week are ridiculously high but the first week of May are very low.
Will prices go back down as the flight gets closer?
We're looking to fly out on a Tue night if that matters

It would vary depending on where you are flying from.
How far out are you? I tend to find the best prices on popular flights/dates are right at release and again about 3 weeks prior.
The key is to keep checking and when you see something just grab it. If you pay with cash you can get a credit good for one year if the price drops again. If you use points, then book today because you can always get your points back if the price drops.

Southwest posts their lowest fares on late Tuesdays and Wednesdays. They then climb up for the rest of the week. You will usually find the best prices about 4-6 weeks before travel.
