Any songs out there that bring a tear to your eye??

I don't know about "crying", but the two songs that bring a tear to my eye are:

The Star Spangled Banner - It doesn't matter what version, hearing the national anthem & seeing Old Glory makes it nearly impossible to have a dry eye.

Amazing Grace - The caveat is that it has to be the bagpipe version.


Here's another one that, while not a "tear-jerker", definitely has potenial:

I had forgotten about November Rain... I haven't heard it in a long time. That one is hard to hear.

I can't get through "Let It Be" by the Beatles or "Thank You" by Led Zeppelin.

I think my most difficult song to get through is still "Dream On" by Aerosmith.

Geeez, can you tell when I grew up? Someone pass me a tissue! I mean it!

When I hear the Voices of Liberty sing the Star Spangled Banner as a teenager it totally changed how I viewed history class. It did bring tears to my eyes. Others already mentioned are Ave Maria and Amaizing Grace.

Also True Companion by Mark Cohen and Time After Time by Cyndi Lauper...

Also, the song they play after Illuminations... can't remember the name but the words are truly beautiful!

I cannot make it through all the verses of Amazing Grace (which we seem to sing quite often at our church) without getting choked up and teary eyed. The combination of melody and lyrics along with memories of loved ones who have passed away gets to me every time.

Some of the ones mentioned and one more...I think the name is "Dont Take The Girl". Its a country song that starts out with a little boy going fishing with his dad and he tells his dad not to take the girl along with them. Then they get older and the same boy is on a date with the girl and they get mugged or something and he tells the robber to take this or that, but dont take the girl. Then a few years later they are married and are having a baby. I think the line goes something like "doctor says the babys fine, but youll have to leave, cause his mamas fading fast..." Then the guy prays to God to take everything he has, but please dont take the girl.
Oh Im filling up with tears just typing this.

12 years ago, my mom had a burst aneurysm, and was in a coma for 3 days. On the 3rd day, my little brother and I (I was 22, he was 17) went to the movies to escape the situation for a couple of hours.

When we got back into the car after the movie, Fire and Rain by James Taylor was playing. I got the weirdest feeling and knew that my mom had died. We went to the hospital and found out that she died at the same time we heard the song. She really loved James Taylor.

I cry every single time I hear Fire and Rain.
