Any shortcut from Grand Californian to Pixar Place Hotel?

On arrival day, I have a late lunch reservation for Craftsman Grill. Afterwards, I did want to walk to and check out the updates to the Pixar Place Hotel. Trying to save walking some extra steps before my first park day. So just wanted to know if there would be a shortcut from GC to PPH that would avoid walking through Downtown Disney?

We just did this on our July trip - exit the hotel at the lobby and turn left, follow walkway and you’ll see Pixar Place (you’ll need to cross Disneyland Drive). We stayed at PP and used this to save our steps and avoid the DD crowds at night!

Yes…anyone can exit the GCH at the front gate as described above and walk across the street to the PPH…you will just need to walk through DTD however to get back as only registered GCH guest and confirmed dining reservation holders can enter that gate from the street.

Here is a screenshot of the route via google maps, you will need your room key to get back through the gate next to the guard shack on the entrance road to GCH.

I've only been once, so please correct me if I'm wrong.

My thought would be from Craftsmans Grill to cut through/around the pool area. Hang a left and walk past the fitness center, etc toward the DVC building. Then, go past the elevators around to the right out to the patio area.

I'm thinking out where the barbecue grills are, there is a path that goes right by it that would lead right to the crosswalk right by Pixar Place Hotel.
