Any Rumors of Ticket Price Hikes?

Looks like I'll be heading back to DL later this year. I really tried to make a WDW trip happen, but I just couldn't land the free dining plan we needed. Oh well. DL is still great and we want to do the AP like we did the last time. There's just something special about being able to go back whenever we want.

But I want to make sure I'm not missing any rumor about ticket prices rising. It seems I miss these every time! I know Disney did a bunch of massive price raising late last year. But I don't want May 1 to happen (or some other surprise date) and have to pay an extra $$$$$ because I missed the notice. Thanks!

They already did the ticket price hike this year in February so I think you're probably good!

There haven't been rumors of an impending ticket price increase in the immediate future, but there seems to be less-and-less notice these days. As mentioned, they did increase single and multi-day tickets earlier this year, but they haven't raised the prices of the AP this year (I think the last increase was in October of 2015).

I would expect another AP increase this year, but maybe we'll luck out. If you're going soon just buy your APs as soon as possible. Or were you planning to day MM and then upgrade to AP?

We are going in the first part of December this year and will be buying AP's for the first time. I was going to wait until closer to time to purchase them but I will be keeping an eye out for potential price increases and purchase sooner if need be.

The only time in the last 10 years that they've gone a whole year without an increase was when they had the $150 increase to premiums Memorial Day weekend 2 weeks before DCA 2.0, and then it was 13 months before the next increase. But they had raised prices twice in 2012 only 4 months apart. They also raised prices twice in 2015, but it's still very unlikely that a whole year will pass without an increase again. I know that going back to 2012 the ticket increase rumors would start on Friday and take place on Sunday. But the last one was announced overnight.

If you live in CA or an area that sells APs at the Disney store, you can usually get them for the old price for a while after the price increase.

What is the amount or percentage they have tended to increase from year to year?

Anywhere from less than 10% to over 30%. They don't raise all levels by the same amount each increase. Last time they eliminated premiums and added siganture and signature plus instead. They have since instituted seasonal pricing on park tickets. There is no guarantee that they won't make more changes to the pass structures again.

If you are positive that you are going in December I would suggest buying the annual passes online before you go... like, now. You can buy them online and have until the end of the year to start your passes. Your passes will start from the day you use them at the park, not the day of purchase.

I do this every other year and use the pass from November 20th-November 20th of the next year, then wait for the next year to buy another pass. It works out better for us as we take 1 trip a year around the same time in November.

This year I made the mistake of buying all Deluxe passes. After I purchased the passes I realized that I should have bought one Signature Annual Pass to get Photo Pass+ included, along with the 20% discount on merchandise. I tried to trade in my unused Deluxe pass but they said I won't be able to upgrade until the day I use the pass at the park. I'm crossing my fingers that there won't be an increase on Annual Passes before November 20th of this year but I'm not going to hold my breath. If and when the increase comes I will see if it's still worth it to upgrade to a Signature Annual pass.
