Any Recent Stays @ The Anaheim Hotel (formerly Anaheim Plaza Hotel)

Wondering of anyone's recent stays at the newly managed (and in progress of renovations) Anaheim Hotel. Previously stayed at Park Due Inn which was great (newly updated, clean and big rooms, + free parking and free breakfast [just ok]).

Looking to save a bit of money. Can get a room at the Anaheim Hotel for about half the price of Park Vue Inn, which includes adding the charge for parking at Anaheim Hotel. For the deal have chosen the Executive Room Two King Beds which claim that all of these rooms have been renovated.

Need help deciding. Any experiences?

Extremely familiar to WDW, normally stay on property in Value (POP usually) and do not stay in preferred rooms. Have only been to Disneyland one other time. I typically spend very little time in the room.

The most recently I stayed there was in 2013 in the "Deluxe" Queen room towards the back of the property. The room was renovated and very nice and the beds were quite comfortable. It was a good size, and we could bring our double jogging stroller in without folding it down, and there was room for it without it being in the way, which was awesome. We didn't try the pool. The walk was easy, even with small kids. I don't know if that's helpful at all.

We stayed there back in June, but not in a renovated room. I would no go back unless I was booking a renovated room. Our room had a very strong mildew smell (I think from the air conditioning unit in the ceiling). The beds were comfortable and the room was clean, but very old. The bathroom was clean but kind of run down. I could overlook everything but the smell. All of that shouldn't matter if you are booking a renovated room though. When we were there the lobby area was recently renovated and really nice, so was the service we received.

I have no idea re: the hotel itself, but if you're going anytime soon, the place is still a big construction zone. If you mind that, I would avoid it. Pizza Press is open though.

We stayed there 3 weeks ago in a room up the back, which I think was a renovated room. It was our first time staying there and we stayed there because it was so much cheaper than other hotels on south harbour. I think the buildings up the back should have been demolished instead of renovated. This said, the room was fine, bed was comfortable, only problem we encountered was cold showers on the first 2 mornings of our stay. To be sure of a hot shower we had to get up and into the shower 2 hours before Disneyland opened, to avoid the rush on the hot water. So if a hot shower or a sleep in are not priorities to you it’s worth saving the money on the hotel and spend it in DL.

I often stay here when I add a day from a convention and have a solo day at the Land. The lobby is much nicer now, the room I stayed in two weeks ago was remodeled, a slight upgrade from the past. Clean place, outer buildings are dated, uneven pavement here and there, construction in parking lot, but really close to the Parks. Its ok, but I only stay there when I am doing the parks solo and really last minute, and I would echo the issues with hot water.

It was bought by the peole who used to own the Anabella, which many people on the boards really loved.

I'd rate is as "OK." We did. Not stay in a renovated roo, and it was fine...especially for the price.

I'll be interested to see it after the renovations are all done.

I'm confused, weren't the Annabella and Anaheim Plaza both scheduled to be demolished and replaced?

It appears the plan to build a new 4-star hotel has been delayed or scrapped. The new hotel would have had good park access through the Eastern Gateway, but that project seem to be stuck in limbo.

The all new Anabella Hotel is moving forward.

We stayed there for 3 nights last weekend (Sat-Tues). In that time, we moved 3 times! The first night, there was some horrendous screeching metal sound that woke us periodically throughout the night; I think it was something to do with the A/C. There was also a broken ice machine right outside our door. We were in a 2-king room, which are all located at the very back of the property. The pictures looked nothing like the actual room, which was much smaller and quite dingy. There was no patio or balcony as pictured, either, and we were told none of the double kings have those so not sure why we were told we'd get one. Not a big deal, but I value honesty when dealing with a business. There were 4 of us, all women, and the amenities were adequate. The front desk staff was very nice and helped us with our issues. However, when we had to move rooms after the first night, the first desk person told us we could upgrade to a better room for $20/night, and that it would be huge and have a patio area. She specifically said that you could put another king bed in it because it was so big. Turned out that there was no patio, the room was the same size, and the thing that increased the price $20/night was an extra sink; the vanity was the same size but it had 2 sinks instead of 1. She had told us we'd have an extra vanity outside the bathroom, but that information was incorrect as well.

Just telling you to be careful if you're considering a deluxe over a standard room --ask what you get for the extra cost, because they admitted to us when we went to the desk to say we hadn't been given the bigger room that the only difference between the std and del is the extra sink. Not worth $20/night! We were told those were the only choices with a double king room, but I'm not sure that's true. The second room was on the parking lot at the side of the building and shared a wall with a mass of A/C units so we declined that one. They finally put us in a 2nd floor room that was exactly the same but not next to the A/C units and on the street. They also took off the extra $20/night charge.

The staff worked with us and were very nice, but the hotel is old, and even the renovation can't fix the issues with it. The beds were comfortable and we liked the lobby but we won't go back. We paid $89/night, which became $113/night after taxes and fees (plus another $10/night to park your car). It's a very decent price but there were just too many issues and we actually were surprised to learn that our room had been renovated because it was a pretty slap-dash job. The carpeting looked old, floor tiles didn't match, there were odd patches of putty and so on. I stayed at the Desert Inn for the same price last month and would much prefer to stay there.
