Anyone stay at the Sheraton Safari recently that could give me their opinion of the place? I won a bid thru priceline to stay there one night? Any help is appreciated. Some of the tripadvisor reviews are horrible and a bit scary! TIA:)

Don't know if last May counts, but I've always found it a great place to stay - clean rooms, GREAT beds, friendly staff and good location.

Oh good. The tripadvisor reviews had really put a fear in me...sorry I canot take a nasty hotel room. But someone else posted on here that Expedia is better place to read reviews because you have to stay there to post a review!;) Thanks so much!

The tripadvisor reports were a little scary, but I decided to take a chance anyways and book a few nights in May using my rewards.

We just stayed there 2 weeks ago with our rewards and we all were pleasantly surprised. Our room was clean and the kids loved the pool.

My dh was not thrilled about the poolside food bar (I wasn't there). He thought the guy behind the bar was rude and not helpful and the food was pretty bad at the Poolside bar. The carpeting in halls a little dingy. Neither of which bothered us but may bother others.

Beware there was a service desk I don't remember the name at the front. My dh asked "did you know you can get a free breakfast?" When I inquired it was for a tour of Vistana. The clerk was a little pushy, so avoid if you don't want to bother.
But it was a nice hotel. Not great but nice. Close to Downtown entrance too.

We stayed there twice in February. We were in the suites. They are not luxurious, but are fairly roomy and were clean. The location is handy and the staff is friendly. We've stayed there several times (usually the first night of the trip as we fly in late) and haven't had any issues.

Depends what you are used to, I guess. I was probably one of the trip advisor reviews that you read - we were not thrilled with this hotel, but for one night you will be fine. I would never spend my vacation in this hotel - dingy carpet, peelng wallpaper, all kinds of flaking paint and mildew in the bathrooms. I'm sure that we didn't get recently renovated rooms - if they even have any, but I thought it really needed to be "refreshed" (nice way of putting it). We will not stay there again.

The pool area did look OK, but we didn't use it - weren't there long enough. The property is well used and it shows. I was quite concerned about the cleanliness of the place - it just felt dirty to me - could have been the poor condition of the bathrooms. A very drunk guy outside of our window at 5 am talking very loudly on his cell also did not leave me with the best impression. I know that could happen anywhere, but it still made me very uncomfortable, not to mention woke me up.

They do not guarantee connecting rooms (of course, not many hotels do) and they did not provide them to us even after recalling the front desk when we got to the rooms and realized they weren't connecting. (They did not tell us they would not be connecting even after we mentioned it at check-in) They claimed they had none in the whole hotel. Did not seem concerned that they couldn't meet our request - and it was the only request we made. We did stay on points which could have been a factor in the rooms we got. We are gold members which isn't hard to achieve, but at the Swan, they made us feel like royalty.

If we had scheduled our vacation at this hotel, we would have been packing up and finding a different hotel after the first night - possibly even before the first night. The hotel that I stay in for vacation is a very important part of the trip for me. If you only think of the hotel as a place to sleep and store your clothes, you would probably not have a problem with the Safari.

We stayed there this past august and are returning this august again. We also use it for our fly in or fly out day. The hotel is fine for a night or two.I would say a 3 3 1/2 star. The pool was good for the kids but if you are looking for an extended stay i would stay somwhere else. hope this helped. My opinion is a little jaded because we are spoiled by our timeshare we use the rest of the week.:)

Returned and our one night stay at the Sheraton Safari was as expected...ok but would not want to stay there longer. Our room was clean but the hallways flithy. The pool was nice and the kids really enjoyed it! The air conditioning in the rooms is NOT great at the least. My MIL and FIL had problem in their room too with it cooling and it was loud.
Our house we rented was awesome and we were glad to get there. I would really recommend it Mickey's Clubhouse...you can book it directly thru the owner at www.mickeyscondo.com/clubhouse it is in Windsor Hills tell her Paige sent you.

We stayed in January 2008 and loved the hotel.

Good room, super comfy beds, free parking, close to shopping and restaurants, and best of all close to Disney.

We had a poolview suite with a separate bedroom with 2 beds, 2 tvs, kitchenette, pool out couch, table and chairs.
