Any Recent Reviews of Shutters (CBR's table-service)?

Hi!

We are driving down on 9/10 & checking into the CBR for 1 night before our MYW package starts on 9/11 at the WL.

We will probably arrive around dinnertime on 9/10, maybe a little bit before, depending on how early we leave & how well the drive goes.

My original plan was to just grab something at the food court because I know the kids will want to swim, so I don't want to take up too much time w/ eating. Plus, I saw where some of the kids' meals in the foodcourt are served in sand pails which I thought would be cute.

However, I started looking at Shutters, & the menu looks kinda neat. We like Caribbean-style food like plantains.

How is the food? And the service? Does it take a really long time to eat here? If it doesn't take much longer than counterservice, then I'll strongly consider it.

So, any thoughts? Yay or Nay?

I should have used the search function BEFORE I posted!

So, from what I've read, Shutters gets not very good reviews.

And I think I'll just stick to the foodcourt!

I've seen some not so nice reviews from 2010. I wonder if it has become any better? Hoping someone posts a recent review herre.

Tried to eat the once and was scared away by people leaving Shutters after having dinner. Their recommendation was to eat at the food court instead.

Wow! It's hard to imagine such a terrible dining experience. That was back in June 2010.... I'd hope that Disney might have recognized the serious problem and made changes during the last year.

But the menu looks the same. And I see negative reviews from Nov. 2010 and Dec. 2010 that echo the same concerns as the podcast. For example, "The winter squash was attrocious, under-cooked, and had some nasty (paprika??) spice on it. The "milkshakes" clearly had no ice cream in them, and were more like shaved ice with flavouring..."

But there are some early 2011 reviews that say it was good, not raving about it, but no complaints.... so I'm wondering if something changed at the restaurant and it is better now.

A review from August 2011 --- this is hard to believe....but....??? Especially since the menu has not changed... but I'm holding out for some hope.... before I stick with another restaurant.

Shutters at Caribbean Beach was delicious!!! The food I got was excellent quality, the portions were generous, and the presentation was just as nice as the pictures I've seen of signature restaurant dishes.

I was just there Aug 19. It was OK. Service was actually very good. My mother and I split the chicken lettuce wraps for an app. It was above average. I had the pork ribs for entrée and my mother had the chicken dish. Both were OK, nothing special. We split the mango mousse for dessert (they gave it to her for free bc it was her bday). It was surprisingly good.

So overall, I wouldn't go out of my way to go to Shutters. But if I was staying at CBR again and got in late, I wouldn't blacklist Shutters.

Our only experiences there are from more than a few years ago and back then it was the Captain's Table. Those meals varied from very good to just okay. We stayed at CBR a few months ago, but did not eat at Shutters based on the reviews mentioned. I would hope things have gotten better, too, but so many Disney restaurants are hit and miss these days, so you could have a great meal one day and a bad one the next. There was a time when any and all Disney dining was great and most complaints came from the restaurants not run my Disney. The current trend has that reversed.
