We ate there a few years ago & it was not so great. We love mexican food (& tex-mex) & wanted to give it another try for dinner.

I have a friend who just got back two weeks ago and she said the food was awful. I didn't ask her to elaborate though.

We had lunch there about a week and a half ago and I will say we all enjoyed it! DH loved the tortilla soup, DD loved her soft steak tacos and I had a combination plate which I also liked. We did eat here for dinner a few years back and I enjoyed my recent lunch much more! We plan on going back for lunch again!

problem with this place-

if you live in certain parts of the USA (Texas, New Mexico, Colorado, AZ, CA)
you will have so many wonderful choices in your hometown for mexican food-

San Angel is terrible for us when comparing it to what I can get just a mile
from my front door-

I love the atmosphere but stay far away-

Moved from Review Board to Restaurant Board for more feedback

We've eaten there a couple times and the food was good but not great, however we had rude service once, gave it the benefit of the doubt and went back next trip and had rude service again. We no longer eat there, and yes we contacted mgmt. about the service the first trip and they claimed it would be addressed, obviously it was not. It's a shame, we love the atmosphere.

The last few times we have gone the service was awful and the food was poor :sad2: . We have local mexican restaurants in our area that are wayyy better than this place. It is off our list and we will not be returning.

Not a real recent review, but we ate there last September and it was horrible. The food tasted like you were eating from a Salt lick (for deer). Could barely taste the food for all the salt. The rice was extremely dry, cold and flavorless. I tried the tortilla soup and found it too salty to eat. Very disappointed. While we are not avid food eaters, it cannot compare to decent meals I have had in Mexico City or even the cheap mexican place in town. Service was also pretty bad. It is really a shame because that atmosphere is great(which is why we decided to give it another try after a bad meal a few years ago.)

We've always enjoyed our food here. Try one of the Surgencias del Chef.

I ate lunch at San Angel Inn May 2007 and will be returning again for lunch in a little over a week. The atmosphere is great and we had an excellent meal. Maybe not the best Mexican food ever, but we really enjoyed it. I definitely look forward to my return!

we have a ADR booked for August, there is such mixed reviews about it,b ut everyone says they love the atomsphere.

were gonna try it, if we dont like if just cross it off our list for next time

We always go bcs the atmosphere is great, and the food is fine. Nothing outstanding, but a better than Don Pablo's, etc. Service has always been fine.

I guess we like it because you can always get ressies (hmm...), its pretty fast, and for EPCOT dining, pretty cheap for table service.

Not somewhere I would go for the special table dining in EPCOT. In no way does it offer the kind of fun experience that Teppanyaki does, for example. But its not bad!

We ate there for dinner is may of 07 and we really enjoyed it. It was crowded but we loved the atmosphere. My kids who are very picky eaters also really enjoyed it. The food was delicious. We are from the northeast and until just recently we never had any good mexican food around here.

Just my two cents....

We went in October and we all loved it!! It was the surprise of the trip. I almost cancelled several times based on the bad reviews here, but DH and DS wanted to eat here.
The food was good, the service was attentive but not hovering - just right, and the atmosphere was wonderful.
We did not find it too dark, or the tables closer together than other WDW restaurants.
We will return

We have gone a few times, the last with our extended family from California. The family had definitely had better Mexican food in California, but they were all so excited to be on this trip, that the Disney spirit took over! They just loved the atmosphere, and loved getting out of the heat, so it was a winner for us!

Just went for the first time on April 18th. I do have to say I think we should have went for Lunch instead of dinner. I found the prices to be quite high, service not good at all. I mean we waited 20 minutes before we saw our waiter and got drinks (soda).

By the time we did get our meal it was decent, nothing to write home about. I was disappointed but will try lunch next time maybe that would be better.

We had ressies at 430 and hardly anyone was there and it was still bad service.

I love San Angel, and eat there most every trip. I have never had bad service. I will say the tables are close together and its a bit dark and that puts some people off.

I have lived in Colorado and Texas and have eaten Mexican food all over the U.S.! Its rare for me to find a variety that I don't enjoy and I am amazed at how Mexican food varies. Stands to reason, its a big country with lots of regional cuisines. Sort of like our own American cuisines and how you won't find the same things in Texas that you find in Maine.

I enjoy it, many others don't. I do have to say you mention "Tex Mex". San Angel's variety is nothing like Tex Mex. So if tha'ts your one and only love for Mexican food, I'd rethink eating here!

My favorite things at San Angel are the filet, the tortilla soup, the nachos (they have a Mexican sausage on them) and I have had a few seafood items I really enjoyed.

I havent tried it yet but DH and I will be going in August for a late lunch. All the reviews are gonna be a love and hate review. Your best bet is to just go and not worry about the reviews. For 1 persons junk could be another persons treasure. Other words, others might hate it, but you might love it. Only way you are truly gonna know if its good or not is to go and experience it yourself.
