Any Recent DLH stays?

I am hoping for a recent DLH review. I am especially curious about the impact of the construction - views, noise levels, inconvenience factor.

I am trying to make a final hotel choice for our first ever visit to DLR in February. I really love the look of the refurbished rooms. However, I am not sure the rooms inside will compensate for the construction outside.

What sort of rooms are the 'preferred premium view' rooms - refurbished rooms overlooking DTD?

Thanks :flower3:

We stayed at DLH for Veterans Day in November. I've stayed there multiple times in the past. I like it -- a lot. For the last few years I've always reserved a premium view DTD room. For me DTD view is the way to go. You're in the (I'd say) best wing location wise, which has refurbed rooms with, depending on where they put you, good to awesome views.

The problem I usually have at DLH is that they don't always (I'd have to say rarely/almost never) give me my room request if I request a DTD view. They say the view is not guaranteed. I love this hotel once I make it past check-in, but check-in is usually a battle. I usually end up having to speak with a manager (and they've been very helpful) to get the room I requested. My advice is, allow extra time for check-in and arrive early so if there are problems they can switch your room.

To tell you the truth, we didn't do much around the hotel this last trip so I'm not familiar with exactly where all the current construction is but I'm pretty sure they are all done with the wing containing the DTD views. They were working on the buildings around the pool area but I'm pretty sure the pool was still open. We never heard any construction noise, but we were on the other side from where the construction was going on and we'd get up early to hit the parks and get back late so we may have missed it. If you're on the DTD side I don't think you'll have a problem with construction noise keeping you awake. There is a bit of noise coming from DTD into the evening, mainly music. This is part of the ambiance of the DTD view rooms.

I usually spend most of my stays at the DLH w/DTD view. I love it and recommend it highly! Occasionally I stay at the GC if I get a good discount. It's good too, but to me the DLH has more of a Disney feel, and the rooms are larger.

snesguy,Thanks for the information about your recent stay and what a preferred premium view is.

I assumed the view would be of DTD but your response indicates that there might be other rooms, besides DTD view, with that description. Is overlooking the pool area considered preferred premium? Not sure that I would consider a construction view preferred premium.

PHXscuba Thanks for the link to the blog. I had seen part 1, which is why I really want first hand info on how the construction is affecting enjoyment of the DLH. The pictures make the refurbed rooms look wonderful! I did not realize that part 2 of the blog had been published. The construction looks pretty extensive in the area between the towers.

PP and GC really do not appeal to me but, the construction does not appeal either.

Thanks again!

I struggled with this decision as well, but opted to give it a go for our upcoming trip. I'm hoping that we may score a refurbed room, but if we don't that's okay, I've always loved the rooms. What I'll miss most of all is the Lost Bar...our family tradition. ;)

I believe that now all refurbed rooms are called preffered.

As time goes on the chance of getting a refurbed room inncreases. The resort is almost 50% done and has at least 17% in rehab, leaving a 50% chance you won't get a refurbed room for stays right now. Soon that will decrease to 33%.
