Here's the deal...we want to go to WDW every 18 months. Would alternate May one year with December the next then 18 months later May, etc.

Anyone see any problems with a Feb use year? We want to buy into BCV NOW for the incentives. We would buy now but bank points until May '03 etc.

We would then like to get a VWL add on of 100 points. Any chances of that happening?

Thanks...

Y'all are great.

The only problem you may run into is if you have to cancel a December reservation. July 31 is the deadline to bank 100% with a Feb use year, October 31 50%, November 30 25%. If you couldn't bank, you would have to use the points by January 31.

Those are my normal trip months too, I waited until they were selling April use year at BWV (there is no May use year).

So your thought would be to wait for a March or April use year...does anyone know if BCV will have March use year or April only? Seems like April would give a little more "breathing" room.

Thanks

Actually, an April use year might be good because if something happened and we couldn't go in December, we would possible try for Spring Break (March)...

THanks

I think I'd wait (or request) a December use year. If you had to cancel a December vacation, you'd have until the end of May to bank 100% of your points assuming you couldn't use them by November 30 of the following year. If you had to cancel a May vacation, you'd still be OK (assuming you cancelled at least 30 days ahead of arrival).

Of course, you may not want to wait for a December use year because if you do, you won't get any 2001 use year points. You'll have to balance the benefits of a December use year against not getting one year's worth of points. Even though you now plan to alternate vacations between May and December, that could change over time. Use year probably isn't the most important consideration in the decision-making process.

To us, use year really hasn't made any difference - we've never had to cancel a WDW vacation. Hope our good luck continues.

Good luck with your decision.

I wouldn't worry about the Use Year UNLESS you're certain that you'll only be vacationing in May and December for the next 40 YEARS!!!!!!!:) . We have an APR Use Year but have vacationed at WDW at least for 5 different months over the last several years. I'm sure that over the next 40 years we'll be there for vacations during 10 different months!!

The only real problem to consider with use year is if you have to cancel a reservation- especially within 30 days. Otherwise, use year is simply when your points are renewed each year.

We have a June use year and usually go in May each year. If we had to cancel that reservation on short notice, we'd have to use the points before May 31. Fortunately, it's never happened.

For the most part, I wouldn't worry too much about use year. It's main importance is if/when you have to cancel a reservation.

Good Luck!

**Also, if you're planning on that VWL add-on, better do it before too long. DVC still expects it to sell out completely by the summer.

Thanks all.

Doc definitely asap....we just want some VWL points to bank/borrow for those December trips....!!!!!

:D

I knew you all would help.

I was able to get an April use year for BCV. Since we like to travel in April and October (I know we won't be travelling during the other months because we are picky about the weather) an April use year will work out much better for us than a February use year. I can always cancel our October reservation within 31 days and still be able to bank our points. at 100% There was simply no advantage in sticking with a February use year.

You can get the April use year for BCV and you don't have to wait! Good luck!

I have a February use year. We've been members for 10 years, and have never run into a problem getting what we wanted.

There are only two months left where we haven't vacationed in WDW, and that's March and April.

As long as you know what you want, you should be fine.
