Any problems with conventioners at RPR?

My family and I are planning a two week trip to Orlando next Februrary. Normally, we would stay on Disney property the whole time. But next time, we want to try a stay at RPR for about five nights.

Of the onsite hotels, RPR appeals to us the most. But I've heard it is a convention hotel. Should I be concerned?

We are a group of a dozen, ten adults and two small children. We usually stay at POR, to give you an idea of our resort preferences.

Right now we have the Disney portion of our trip booked but not the Universal portion. I need some advice here before I decide on which Universal Hotel to book.

If you have stayed at RPR with your family at the same time as a convention, could you share your experiences with me?

The convention area is in a whole seperate part of the hotel away from the main area, almost offsite. I have not seen anyone from a convention in my 5 stays there or noticed them.:thumbsup2 The rooms a RPR are the smallest of the 3 resorts but to us its not uncomfortable. The room size is 335 sf and go bigger for suites.:thumbsup2

There has been coventions on when we have been there. They start their days early i usually see signs for there breakfast at around 7:30, and never see them again till late afternoon after the convention.
It never impacts on the hotels or pool areas IMHO, if anything it can make the pool area a lot quieter.

Quite frankly, we have had more issues with families having birthday parties there than convention goers. The convention goers have long days and are rarely around to bother anyone. We have stayed RPR club many times, and although some conventioners stay club level, they get their food to go, just to give you an idea.

We were there once when a family was having a birthday party for their teen at the pool, which got loud. We figured we'd go up to the club lounge for some peace and quiet. Nope. At least a dozen and a half of those teenage girls from the party invaded the club lounge. I actually said something to the concierge. I just asked politely whether all those girls had club rooms. They were disruptive and obnoxious. The concierge said something to the parents, and the girls left about 5 minutes after that.

We use to stay offsite and altho the offsite hotel was nice it could get noisy with the coventioners but last year we stayed at RPR and it was great.
We found it to be quiet and peaceful and even told DS's to repect the other guests and not to be loud

I think I have my answer. Conventioners don't seem to be much of an issue at RPR.

Royal Pacific sounds like the place for us!

Thank you to all posters for sharing your experiences.
