Any problems using Verizon cells in parks and on Disney property?

We leave for WDW in less than 3 weeks and are staying at the POP. When we have gone in the past we always used 2-way radios. Now all the adults who are going have cell phones with Verizon. We can call each other and it doesn't cost anything. My question is has anyone had any trouble using them in the parks or on Disney properties? Do they have towers in the area that pick up a good signal? We were hoping to just use these instead of the radios.

We were primarily using the 2 way radios, but we did on occasion use them when we were there in June and they worked great.

Glad to hear that your Verizon phones worked. Just switched from Cingular (used to be AT&T) to Verizon, since most of my family has Verizon cell phones and have been very happy with the service so far. Have reception in quite a bit larger area than I did with Cingular.

Ours have worked in all the parks the BWV,Y&B,BC,GF&Contemp. Much better than the radios

Ours worked just fine, even in rides (like RnRC) and even inside some buildings in Epcot. Occasionally I would drop a call when inside some buildings (like Living Seas) but 99% of them went thru.

And no, I wasn't calling anyone on RnRC but someone was calling me, lol!

We used Verizon Wireless on all of our Disney trips, and we could not ask for more. The ocassional dropped call will happen in certain buildings that are underground and such, but other then that we noticed impressive service at our hotel, the Wilderness Lodge. It is also really great if everyone your going with has Verizon, since Verizon to Verizon is free.

I have a Verizon phone. When I was in WDW in Sept.05, I called to say hi to my parents and I called them while I was sitting right in front of the Cinderella's Castle! I also used my phone through out the park and the resort we were staying at( Beach Club).

And as far as the cost thing goes, it depends on what kinda phone plan you have. If you are not sure, about the cost thing just call and find out what it will cost you if you make calls while in Disney World. We have the family plan, so it does not cost anything for me to call my family or friends that have Verizon phones.

I have had verizon for our last few WDW trips without any real problems. i even remember having a full stregenth signal in SM. this past trip we had 8 of us with verizon service and had no trouble keeping everyone together.

the only place i had a bit of a problem was when we stayed at WL. strangely enough when i was inside the WL no problems, when i went outside only a few feet away from our rom i saw that i had the roaming symbol on our phone. i called verizon and they couldnt understand why this is happening and since my plan covered this area not to owrry about it. i wasnt charged.

We used our Verizon phones every day last Aug/Sept at WDW. In fact....

funny little story...

I was out of vacation time so I just took an unpaid week off. My boss made me call in every day to call off for the next day to meet the company's offical requirements. I managed to call in from IASW 4 times. (He hates the song and the ride!) I would leave it in voice mail to him every day with the music in the back ground. One morning I ran over by myself at rope drop just so I could call from IASW. I love torturing him.
