We're arriving on a Saturday and not using a park day. We will ride the monorail and dine at 'OHana. I'm wondering if anyone knows of a good spot to catch Illuminations from outside the park? Is it worth it? Or should we just get to bed in anticipation of the next morning's MK EMH?

You'll be able to see the high aerial fireworks, but you won't be able to "see IllumiNations" from anywhere. IllumiNations includes a lot of stuff on the water, and around the pavilions that can't be seen from anywhere other than Epcot. But you can see the fireworks from Boardwalk and other areas.

:earsboy:

We have gone to the Boardwalk and stood on the bridge over the lake. You can see quite a bit, and we sit down and eat some snacks from that great bakery there on the boardwalk.

Our last trip down we stayed in the BWV's with a view of Epcot. Even on the fourth floor it was still difficult to see anything more then the high fireworks.

Most of the fun of illuminations is on the water surface, itself, with the big globe thingy. Though I suppose you could view the aeral fireworks from other places, you miss the "point" of the show. Its really worth seeing sometime!

Didn't I read somewhere that you can rent a boat and sit right on the lake and watch Illuminations? I think you rent from one of the resorts and you don't have to have a ticket into the park (if I am remembering this correctly)

Has anyone done this?

You can see the high fireworks and usually hear the music from the beach in Martinique at CBR.

The very first post on theme parks a nd attractions iboard s a sticky post about booking cruises for fireworks. Yes, they depart from various resorts. For IllumiNations they are VERY hard to get, just as hard as Cinderella Breakfast. Yup, call 90 days in advance at 6:55, or see if you can find one to share by going to the link I mentioned. Breathless leaves from Yacht and Beach I think, only a few pontoons and one other boat for $175-$120
