can anyone tell me if there is some place at the parks or resorts I can transfer pic's off my digital card to a cd so I don't have to purchase another card? I'm afraid i'll be taking more pics than my 512 card will hold. We won't have a rental car till last 2 days of trip.

thanks

Hello, Yes we were able to download pics onto a CD @ MGM. Right @ the end of main Street there was a picture photo place(don't remember the name). $10 they downloaded 500 of my pics onto CD.

Hope that helps.

You can often find a two-gig card for $20 nowadays, maybe $25-30 max. It will hold as much as three CDs, and there's no need to run around to a CD burning place and wait for them to do it.

More memory cards are definitely the way to go... then when you get a chance, burn them yourself to DVDs, not CDs. (DVDs are much cheaper per meg than CDs.)

HI, I am almost positive you can burn pics to a cd at MK. When you enter the park go to the left and it's in the bldg. where you would pick up pics they take at the park. Can't think of the name now, but I'm sure you can do it there.

I guess this is a nice back up plan if you don't have anymore space on your memory card, but as Groucho said it's a lot cheaper just getting a new memory card before you go.

I had a friend who had the same dilemma as the original poster. He ended up just spending $20 on an extra card (1 gig I think). He was so happy because he would have needed to put his old card on a CD 3 times during the trip. Also, he's gotten more use out of the new car in subsequent trips (one to Disney). Overall, spending the extra $20 has saved him something like $80 I think.

Your right about Groucho being right. Would be cheaper to get extra mem. cards. I have three myself. You can even get a 2 gig now I think. They are pretty cheap now too. I know walmart has 1 gig's for around twenty, and they r always on sale in weekend ads. Just have to shop around. That would beat having to go to one of the parks to download to a disk, and besides, It's a lot cheaper to do that a Walmart or Walgreen's.

It is cheaper to get memory... but if you are stuck there is a place at all four parks. It cost 12 dollars to put your memory on to a CD. They are always on the right hand side of the park when you first enter. I am not sure of the name of the one at Animal Kingdom but the rest are as follows.
Magic Kingdom, Expo Hall
Disney's Hollywood Studios, The Darkroom
EPCOT, the Camera Center, located directly under spaceship earth

kidslvdizny2,

What kind of camera do you have? I agree with the recomendations to just buy cheap 2GB cards, but we'll want to make sure your camera can support them.

I was wrong about which way to turn when u enter the park. I got my left's and right's mixed up. (working midnights messes with my head). Like the previous post said it is At Expo Hall at MK and u do go to the right. Sorry for any confusion. Twelve dollars is a lot to pay for the pic transfer, but at least you have an option if no more room on your mem. card.

I have an olympus 510UK or something like that I just got it a month ago. it takes XD cards and of coarse the SD cards are on sale this week. I have a 512 now and that will get me 279 pics. if I don't get a chance to pick up an extra card I'll just go through every night and delete the bad pics. I'm going to check circuit city or staples right now online.
Thanks for all the suggestions

Just a quick search, here's a 2GB card on Newegg.com (one of my favorites):

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820196008

$43 shipped for 2GB xD.

SO a rough estimate: 279 x 4 = 1116 photos on the 2Gb card.

So:
1116 + your current 279 = 1395 Photos for $43

versus
279 + cd burning ($12 a cd) = 1395 Photos for $60 (plus lost time; no camera card to use)

Ah yes, the other advantage to having the 2gb card, even if you'll never take 1400 photos;
If you don't carry a video camera, you can throw your still camera into movie mode, and get a good amount of movie time.
