Any Palo brunch update? I leave in 12 days and want to cancel if they don’t restart buffet.

We are on the Magic Feb 27th, so I need to make a decision soon. The best 6 brunch’s of my life were at Palo on Disney Magic and Wonder. I never ordered entries because of the unduplicatable and filling buffet items. And I could have the tiniest amount of allergy offenders and pay a minimal price with maximum euphoric experience with just a taste. Those branches were truly magical for me.
My Fantasy brunch in February last year was so disappointing. Too many entrées and vegetables, I couldn’t eat with allergies I have.
Anyone have any fresh rumors you heard about?

Our server on the Wish told us that, at least on the Wish, it was not going to ever happen. Jury is out on the other ships. I wouldn't hold my breath though.

Our palo waiter said the buffet brunch will not be returning based on CDC rules that all buffets on the ships have sneeze guards in place where food is served buffet style. The would take a portion of the dining area to make into the buffet there’s not room to accommodate such a serving area in palo.

I don't see why they can't just circumvent this by having a small setup in which you walk up with a plate and a server provides you something you might like from a distanced table or something.

Can anyone explain why the buffet brunch was so popular? I’m a newbie so I just don’t know - many long-time cruisers seem to wish they would go back to the buffet, and I don’t really understand the appeal.

I recommend cancelling if the buffet is a must for you.
I had a feeling I would need to when I made the reservation. But I really hoped they were going to work something out over a year later.

I would be fine with a cart that had displayed items only used to order from. A written menu might feel complicated, and presentation has so much appeal.
I think it's just cheaper for them not to offer the buffet.
I’m sure it is, but they can cut corners on so many things and still choose to go the extra mile. Just the rugs all over the ship must cost triple instead of the 2-3 colors(2-3 patterns) most use. Just a nice color that doesn’t show a lot of dirt.
It’s just like the main dining room now. It’s not Magic anymore it’s just a nice MDR meal with guaranteed windows.
I’m going for the windows when we sail out of New Orleans. Hope I don’t miss Lumeres our first night. I’ll feel like I missed a good meal.

It’s things you don’t find anywhere and in great assortment. I’m going to see if I can find an old post with pictures for you. Though I know someone here has them.

It was not your typical buffet (Cabanas and most WDW buffets) where the rule in play is quantity over quality and you slap it on your plate high and deep and repeat the process several times until you are comatose from consuming massive amounts of average at best food. Rather, it was an incredible spread of some outstanding high-quality food items. The number of selections was impossible to imagine if you have never seen it in person. It was not a typical buffet experience. However, when you did walk out of Palo comatose from consuming massive amounts of food, at least it was outstanding food. LOL

I'm an aberration because I enjoyed Palo brunch the same without the buffet. 🤷‍♀️ Granted, I'm not a huge fan of meats and cheeses and cold seafood, so I didn't typically eat a lot of the buffet food. Plus, I hated walking back and forth to the buffet. The entrees are what make brunch worthwhile to me. I can still taste that lasagna.

If they ever change the pricing structure though, I'm out.

I guess I can't really say for certain, since I haven't experienced the buffet, but I feel like this would be my perspective - especially since you can order however much you want, I would prefer to just be served and enjoy a really nice brunch meal. I can see the appeal, though, with how others have described the buffet.

DH and I were upset about the buffet not being available in December but I have to say we really enjoyed the new set up. They will bring you as much as you want and we didn't have to get up and down and were able to enjoy our meal. Don't right it off, give it a try I don't think you will be disappointed.

I had old Palo in 2019 and then we did Palo in June on the Wonder last year. I didn't like the change because I only want certain kinds of sea food and cheeses (and I hate to waste food). Anyway, the in-laws are Platinum, so we're going to go in May, but I don't think I would pay again.

This is the reason. We just went to Palo brunch on the Dream, and when I asked for the shellfish appetizer to share they brought us a plate with one mussel and one crab claw, so I asked if we could please have one each, which they happily brought us. But we know that if it was a buffet we could have helped ourselves to as much as we would have liked, and the point of friction of having to ask for more and only being brought one each time might embarrass people into having less.

The brunch was fine, and my mom thought at the price per person it was a good value. We enjoyed the apple waffle, the antipasti, the eggplant rollatini and the lasagna, but thought the chicken parmesan was rubbery as if the meat had been defrosted, frozen and defrosted again. To their credit , after they asked us what we thought and we honestly told them the chicken was low-quality, they sent us a plate of chocolate covered strawberries to our stateroom, which was very unexpected and a nice gesture, if really unnecessary since the rest of the meal was quite good.

But if I were sailing the Magic, I would choose Palo dinner over Palo brunch. The food is just so much better at dinner. In our case, we did a Remy dinner, and it felt like overkill to do both, so we did Palo brunch. But on the Magic, that would be my choice.

I actually did try the brunch in February on the Fantasy. Just wasn’t happy with my meal and wasn’t special as brunch. It was a seasoned chicken and I can’t remember anything else but the Mamosa.

So looks like it will not change back, at least not next week. I’m going to ask for a comment card early so I can write a complaint about how much I miss the old buffet and would return if they could bring something back as small sample groupings or anything but just a menu.

So I canceled yesterday. Took it off my bill. Hopefully I can squeeze in mixology in its place.
