Wondering if their are any other single Moms out there that have or will be taking their kids to Disney.

I'm not a single mom, but I did take my then 5 and 7yos to Disney by myself.

That must be fun, just the 3 of you. I am a bit concerned about rides. Having seating for 3 or stress because 1 child wants to go on a ride an the other doesn't. I took my twins when they were 3 (they are 7 now) thier Dad backed out of the trip so I took my sister in his place. It was fine because there was another adult to ride with or stay off the ride.

I am taking them for Christmas. It is a suprise, however, they keep asking if there dad can go on the next disney vaca with us :lmao:
hmm.... I would have to pay for his sorry butt, so i have to think long and hard about that one.

LOL! Mine would like their Dad to come as well. He probably would too. But, I think it sends a mixed message. We get along very well and do a very good job of spending time together with the kids but a vacation... not such a good idea for me.

Here's what we did for Space Mountain: We all stood in line together, and then DS then-7 got on the ride while a CM took DD then-5 and I to where the ride ends. We were right there when he got off the ride.

We just skipped rides I didn't think he was ready to ride alone.

I suprised my DD7 last September during FDP. I just picked her up from school and told her we were going to visit my friend in Asheville, and off we went.:rolleyes1 She didn't figure out that you can't get from Charleston to Asheville by going through Florida until we we exiting into Disney. It was priceless! We had a wonderful time together! Couldn't ask for a better trip! It is easy to get ADR's at the last minute when there are only 2 people too! :thumbsup2

I do Disney all the time alone with my 4 and 5 year old. It's kind of nice actually. For us, we can usually sit 3 across in the rides, so no one is left out. I prefer to go alone. You can decide what to do, when to eat, and at the mercy of no one but yourself, and a few demanding kids. :lmao:

I'm a single mom, and my little girl is two. We go to Disney about every other month, so we're old pros at it now.

It's hard work, and even harder to save, but worth it. Her dad thought about it for about three seconds before telling me he wouldn't go. He's only seen her twice in the past year, if that. He's not a champ. Of course, I must have lost my mind when I asked :rotfl2:

The only hard time is when Julie's throwing a fit, or when I'm trying to carry her and the stroller, but since your little ones are older ... you don't have to worry about it.

She doesn't know it, but next year we'll be doing our first cruise *Disney of course!* and the following year we'll be doind DisneyLand! Maybe by then I'll find a good guy ... :rotfl2:

Enjoy it .. and your kids will

I took my dd for the first time last year. We had a blast on our "Mommy-daughter" trip. We did whatever we wanted to do, how ever many times we wanted to do it!

This year we're going again in July but I've asked my mom to go as well.

Hi there! I am not a single mom (anymore) but I did take my kids to Disney solo last year. Well I had a friend join me for a few days but we spent about 5 days with just the 3 of us.

They were 9 and 11 at the time. It worked out just fine. The only issue I had was who sat where on the rides. So I just made the two of them sit together, and I sat alone. You will have a great time, and your kids will love to have you all to themselves in the Happiest Place on Earth!

I took my girls last year when they were 7 and 5. I decided to give DH a break, he didn't like Disney.

It was a relaxing trip, we stayed on-site, didn't rent a car. There were a number of rides that DD7 could not ride because we could not leave DD5 and I could not go with her. However, we are looking forward to have another mother-daughters trip.

Yep! We try to go every year. I have two sons ages 11 and 14 and each of them were age 8 for their 1st Disney World trip (younger for Disneyland).

Best memories we have as a family.

not single but taking the kids solo in 2 weeks:cool1: :cool1: :cool1:
any solos out there want to meet up and have adult conversation let me know. would love to meet up with some fellow DISers and let the kids play at a play gorund

I took my kids to Disney for the first time when they were 4 and 6 solo. It was great!! We had so much fun and made such wonderful memories. If the seats on rides only were for two, they rode together and I sat behind them. I am a single mom and I have been taking my kids to Disney every year. Now I have twins that are 3 1/2 and my other boys are 8 and 10. I enjoy this time because we all just have fun. I think that having fun together is very important. I know that during this time, I am free of the usual stress of being a single mom and other difficulties we face. We are going June 22-July 2. We all just can't wait.

I'm a single mom to my DD (6) and I will be taking her for a Mommy/Daughter vacation in Sept. It will be the first trip to WDW for both of us. So it will be great :goodvibes Im super excited!!!! :cool1:

We have always done our trips as a family!!! BUT. . . A very good friend (that has NEVER been) caled and said that she wanted to go BUT didn't have anyone to go with. I was able to talk DH into letting me go. We even invited him, but he decided that she would miss out if his COMANDO style made her miss something small. So I guess technically I am not going alone BUT I have also NEVER been away from home without DH in 12 years!!!

I took my son for the first time when he was 3 and we only did the magic kingdom and stayed at POP we went to Chef Mickey and had a great time. He's 5 and we have a great picture of us with Minnie that he carries in his bookbag to school on days when he misses me...I love that

We are going again this summer but technically not alone (my Goddaughter is joining us she's a teenager). But I'm so excited about this trip because I've worked so much this past year and we've been on such a tight schedule with school, work, etc-that we can let loose for 8 whole days of fun and lots of bonding. He picked the All Star Sports and what parks he wanted to visit and we're just counting down until June.

We don't have a great deal of activities planned other than ADR's. I have a schedule but it's not set in stone-it's your vacation together :yay:

I took my oldest 2 when I was a single mom and they were 5 & 7. We had a great time. I take my younger 2 (11 & 8) solo all the time, DH only wants to go once a year or, better yet, every other year, so we go without him. Honestly, I think it's much more fun without him around. :rolleyes1

I am not a single Mom, but did a trip this past January with my two toddlers...After the first day I had a routine and we had a blast! DH will be going on another conference in January and we will be using some points to stay at a monorail resort! It will be an all girls trip! I am looking forward to that time with the girls. DH will join us after his conference.
