I am gearing up for our 3rd Disney vacation since the divorce with just me and the kids, and I am so excited! :cool1:

I'm single but not a mom. I take my niece with me on my Disney trips. October will be our third Disney trip.

Im taking my dd on our first trip just the two of us. For Christmas! I just booked it tonight too! Im so darn excited. Last year we didn't get to go on our Disneyland trip because of the split and now that the divorce is going through Im glad to make this happen for her. Its been hard for us, but really hard on her. This will be great! We are going on dec 23 and coming home the day after Christmas!

I'm not single, but me and my son are taking a trip to DLR by ourselves in January. My husband starts nursing school in Aug and won't be able to miss class, so he's getting left behind! Is that evil?

I'm a little nervous about us going by ourselves, we'll be coming from NC. Last year I went to a conference in Los Angeles and took my son and we did great, guess this will be even better because Disney will be taking care of us!

Have a great time on your trip!

I started taking DD20 and DD15 to WDW by myself the year we were separated - they were 6 and 11 then. We have been many, many times since - and I bought DVC so we'll be going more in the future!!

For those who are on the fence, WDW is an easy vacation for a single mom - as long as you don't have special issues with your kids that would require extra help.

Thanks!

I am single mom and I will be taking my girls in January. They will be 9 & 8.
We are very excited to go.

I'm a single adoptive mom and will be taking my guy in early December -- and am SOOOO excited.

I am most nervous about getting through the flight since it's his first and I'm not sure how he will do in a confined space for that long. I was a flight attendant for several years and saw the good, the bad, and the ugly of traveling with kids. :scared1:

For those of you who have done this before, any tips and tricks you can share about making the journey easier?

Hey all you mother warriors :cheer2: !
I am also a single mother of DS-12 and DS-4. We will be goin on our second trip to WDW August 22-30. This is our first trip without other family members and I am SOOOOO excited! The age difference between the boys can be an issue at times, but overall they enjoy each others company.
This year the 4 year old is tall enough to ride everything but RnR and we have been watching the big boy rides on YouTube and he keeps asking "can he go on that?". :cutie: It is going to be a suprise trip: they wont find out untill that morning. Believe it or not, our first trip to WDW was a huge disappointment due to some family members seriously misbehaving on the trip and I was completely devistated :guilty: I vowed that we would come back and make the next trip our "Real First Trip to WDW". It is so important to us.:wizard:

Im not a single mom any more but my husband doesn't go to WDW with us. Like the PP said it is the easiest trip to go with just the kids. You don't have to drive anywhere if you don't want to or try to find your way around a strange city. Its a safe environment and everything you could need is right there. Disney takes care of you from the moment you step off the plane until the you get back to the airport.

Single mom here! I am tentatively planning a trip in January for DS and I to celebrate the 3rd anniversary of his Homecoming Day arrival. (DS was adopted) We always celebrate the day and what would be better than WDW?
I work full time and am going back to school starting this summer---but I think we are gonna make it work. I am a little nervous about the flight though. I haven't flown solo with him before. That will be a new experience.

not a single mom, but I go with DS3, my sister and her two DS(6 and 10), and my mother. DH doesn't really want to go, and we're just fine without him! We call it the "Women and Children First" tour.

We must have been on the same trip. :lmao: We went last July, it was my girls 1st time and my ex asked if he could go. He then invited his mother & brother.
Ugh! I was crying in Epcot by day 2 of my trip.
I can't wait to go back in January with my girls.

Just got back on Sunday from a 9 day trip with my 2 boys, DS4 and DS6. We wanted to go to Star Wars Weekends. DH stayed home to work. We had a great time and it's always special to share Disney with my boys. Hope you have a great trip!!!

I'm a single mom. DD and I have been twice on our own, and I'm planning our next trip for August 2010. :cool1:

Im a single Mom, will be traveling for our second trip to Disney in October and my son is only 2 lol....Just so nice not having to listen to anyone else. I enjoyed that we were able to just have a laid back week with no interference.
My ex told me that he was moving from Ontario, where we live to VA for work the day before we left, so it was nice to have time to think things through without other peoples interference for a week.

Another single Mom here!! :goodvibes

My roommate and I are taking my son(7) for his first trip at the end of August. He has no idea!:ssst:
I can't wait to see his face when he finds out.

I vowed that we would come back and make the next trip our "Real First Trip to WDW". It is so important to us.:wizard:

I love that!!! I know your "real first trip" will be great. Let's just say my first (and only) trip with my ex was not my idea of a Disney vacation, so i couldn't wait to get back and do it right!

I am so glad I asked! :goodvibes Glad to hear there are other single moms headed to WDW with just the kids. We always have the best time when we go, it is our favorite family vacation. My friends and family don't really 'get' Disney or why I would want to go again or 'alone', and I get frustrated. I was so excited when I saw how many other moms feel like I do about a Disney vacation!

Not a single mom, but DH and DS(16) just don't see Disney the way DD (12) and I do. Last year they went to Italy. We had no desire to go, so we opted for WDW. (I know, some people think we are nuts to skip Italy....:confused3)

We went in October and had a blast. We had agreed early on, about what each of us wanted out of the trip. The biggest plus, we only had to answer to each other. We both were sure to do the most important things for the other person. For me, it was ToT. DD refused to ride it again, but was willing to suck up the pre-show so I could ride it. The other nice thing is we did things we had not done before with "the boys", because on the last trips, the kids were younger and we had no desire to check them out.

I am taking DD back in October for the second annual Mom & me vacation, though I am going to rename it, "Mom needs a break" vacation. She doesn't know I am taking her along again.:rolleyes1

Another single Mom here! I take my two boys all of the time to DL and WDW. We have been Disney addicts since I was a little girl and wanted to carry on the tradition with my kids.
We got stationed in San Diego when my oldest was a toddler and took a trip up to Disneyland. My ex-hubby fell asleep in the park and was ready to go home at lunch. I should have known that the marriage was doomed right then and there :)
Seriously though, we have visited both DL and WDW since both were babies and have always had a wonderful time. My kids are five years apart so it was a bit challenging at times with some of the rides, but we always had a blast. Just don't try to do all day marathons in the parks. If the kids get tired and cranky, take a break and let their moods dictate the schedule. You will be fine!
I finally bought into DVC and we will be traveling this July and staying at SSR with our developer points. This will be our easiest trip since both boys love the arcades, water parks, and all of the rides. I am excited....if only I could get them to a Princess Character meal with me.....I can dream can't I?
