We are family of 6 (2a and 21, 18, 11, 10 yo)and have booked AoA with free quick dining, which we will have to pay to upgrade to ddp. I'm wondering if there is any other resort/room that would be close in price to what we're paying at AoA for a week, seeing as we have to upgrade to ddp, and I believe if you stay in higher than value it comes with regular ddp..and a bit more room would be helpful..though we do love the themes at AoA.

The only things comparable in price to a suite at AOA would be 2 rooms at a value (probably a little bit cheaper), a suite at All Star Music (will also fit 6 and around the same price ) or a cabin at Fort Wilderness (also fits 6 and depending on your dates, may be slightly cheaper than the AOA suite and would come with the regular dining plan.)

Honestly, the cabins probably seems like your best bet for your situation as you wouldn't have to pay extra to upgrade the dining plan and would probably pay similar or even less maybe than what you are now. You would have a bedroom with a queen and a set of bunk beds, a pull out sofa in the living room, a kitchen and bath, a porch. Price it out on Disney's website for your dates as it may be something to consider.

Keep in mind, if you switch to the Cabins at Ft. Wilderness there is only one bathroom. AoA suites have 2 which is a big plus for my family of 6.

Thanks, we don't want to stay at any other values, we have done them all. I wonder about if the cabins take away from the "resort" feel. Is the pool and food court walking distance?

I was trying to find rack rates but the rooms like "villas" arent on DIS under reorts. A friend mentioned OKW or Saratoga Springs smaller villas may be close in price.

I don't know when you're going, but my dates for the end of August come up with $314/ night plus tax at the Cabins, $346 for a studio at Saratoga or OKW, $467 for a 1 bedroom and $670 for a 2 bedroom at SS and OKW. The studios and 1 bedroom villas only sleep 4 though, so you would have to get two. A 2 bedroom will sleep 8. You can plug in your dates and price it out on Disney's website or look on mousesavers and they list the price for each resort for every date of the year (mousesavers prices will include tax whereas Disney's will not).

Mid-end of August. We booked the bounceback free dining, am I correct in thinking that we would get free regular DDP with a cabin, compared to the free QSDP at AoA?

That is correct. Cabins are considered a moderate so they receive the regular dining plan. Since your dates are similar to mine, the prices I quoted should be around the same as what you could expect to pay.

On this forum (Resorts) click on the thread near the top that says something about Links to all Resort threads and you can find the one for Fort Wilderness. Sorry I'm on my phone so can't link it right now. There's a ton of info about the cabins, including maps which will show where the pools and dining options are in relation to the cabins.

Thanks:)

The cabins at Fort Wilderness are probably the closest in price and size. The big differences are the "full" kitchen and only one bathroom in the cabin. It is considered a moderate I believe. When I priced our trip in May and June, the cabins and AoA were very close in price. We have stayed in AoA as a family so are trying the cabins this time. I haven't stayed there since my first trip 33 years ago when I was 7.
