Any other police officers who have stayed at Disney?

Well....cop, deputy, trooper, peace officer, constable, police officer, park ranger and I am sure there are more. They are all sworn in officers of the law. They all have arresting cababilities and all deserve our respect and praise. There are cops...and citizens too that think a gun makes them super! No matter who they are they are wrong and it's scary to think of anyone out there that thinks that! LEO do indeed have a different, (I won't say warped), sense of humor...so do firefighter and paramedics and trauma doctors that work in the ER. These people deal with things on a daily basis that some of us, thankfully, never have to ever see or hear about. Their 'sense of humor' is thier way of relieving the stress and bonding with their co-workers. It is not 'humor'.

And yes, I could never have understood all of this on the level I do if I was not married to a LEO.

from one LEO's wife to another...Thank you for "getting it" and for not making ASSumptions of me or my beliefs regarding 9/11 or any other tragedy...

just for educational purposes...
http://www.centralpark.com/pages/general-info/central-park-police.html

and this qoute is referring to New York STATE Park Police...
Park Police maintain regular patrols, assist motorists and park users, make arrests, conduct criminal and non-criminal investigations, and provide emergency services. New York State Park Police Officers are New York State Police officers whose authority extends statewide and whose primary responsibility it is to enforce laws and provide assistance and protection at New York’s state parks and historic sites. They enforce all state and federal laws, and may be assigned to patrol by boat, ATV, snowmobile, bike, personal watercraft or foot.

The State Park Police force has been in existence and conducting patrols since 1899. Today, there are more than 225 permanent members across New York State, and another 200 part-time seasonal members.
Thanks for the education - they are called STATE PARK POLICE. Goodness gracious, it was a stupid question about the name of the division that's all - I never said yur husband was less than other cops - I ASKED ABOUT THE NAME - that's it. You are obviously very defensive about the name. Honestly, it was just a question. Good grief I don['t even live in NY - I simply used them as an example. They have a hell of a lot more people there and they don't call them Park Peace people. It was a question nothing to get bent out of shape over - next time I'll just google my question.

When you said "park peace officer" it sounded like you were referring to what we call state rangers that's it - a question. I never said they didn't deserve respect. I never put him down. I never said he was less of a cop. I asked a stupid question - that's it. There was no reason to put where I live down or act as if I am less intelligent than you because I don't know your "lingo".

i didn't say your husband has a warped sense of humor, I said the guys I know do just as my husband does and the FF he is on the job with do. They aren't ashamed to admit it - it's the way they deal.

#6 - i don't think i ever did this --- i think i called it utopia --- i would love to live somewhere where gang bangers or gang members (they are one in the same) do not reside ...

don't think i did this either --- it was not my intention --- again, i was speaking to someone else, not you ... sounds like personal insecurities to me...

and this my friends will be my LAST post in this thread as it has long since turned into something it shouldn't have --- and i am sorry for contributing for as long as i have ...

No insecurities here...I may not be married to the finest but I sure did get the bravest -- that's a joke not sarcasm and may not translate well since it is Yankee humor

I apologized in my second post saying I was merely asking a question not trying to be rude. You are the one who started with the insinuations. Again, I apologize for asking a question. I also apologize if I got sarcastic - I don't like it when I am put down for asking a question expecially when I specifically put in the post that I am not being sarcastic. I didn't think it was a big deal that I'd never heard the term you used, had I realized you were going to get so upset over it, I probably would not have asked. Still, ther ewasn't any need for you to call me an *** or make any of your other insinuations.

i've apologized several times now - not sure I can make it any clearer than that

I agree. Police officers do get a bad rep for being macho and better than others. The majority probably aren't, but there are many who do act as if they are better than everyone else.

Needless to say, my thoughts on California LEO is pretty bad.

I find it interesting that you state the bad rap that LEOs get, yet you seem to put ALL California LEOs in the same light because of a bad experience you had with one.
My husband is a LEO in CA. (Not highway patrol) and I really take offense to your statement. You are right some act like they are better than everyone else, but not ALL of them. I don't think it's right for you to form that oppinion on every LEO in CA! Just my 2 cents!

That was my point. I didn't mean to offend. I was saying that they get a bad rap because of stuff like this. It was 1 officer but we came back east thinking "oh my gosh, I hope they aren't all like that" I didn't mean at all that they are all like that - simply that one out of the many does something rude and they all get blamed for it. Is it right for people to stereotype, absolutely not but it happens all the time. That was my point - people stereotype not that all CA police officers are bad. I am sorry if I misworded my post.

Actually, we were in San Francisco and met some very nice ones at the fire house. My husband and I were standing on a corner by a hotel on the crooked street (can't remember the name of it) waiting for some of our relatives who were on a tour of the city. i was sick and apparently looked like it because two police officers stopped and asked if I was okay. I told them what was wrong. They were very nice and concerned and thought I should see a doctor but I really just wanted to sit down for a few minutes. They noticed my DH's FD jacket and told us to come with them .they walked us over to a FH a couple of blocks away, went in and came back out to tell us to come inside. They had the guys made us lunch and we sat there for an hour or so. Those two were wonderful and extremely helpful. They were genuinely concerned and offered help without us asking, but I actually had forgotten all about it. I'll always remember the Tahoe officer since he was so mean and made it so that it was dark by the time we got the few miles up the road to tahoe and we never saw it during the day, but I'd forgotten about the nice officers. Unfortunately most people will remember the ticket of whatever sort they were given more than the time someone stopped to help. That's the sad part and what I was trying to get across in my initial post....I really wasn't trying to be disrespectful. Now, I guess I need to get away from the computer. See what happens during snow days!!!

but I still think that highway guy was nasty :O)

Well it seems that you keep having to say "sorry I didn't mean to offend" over and over...perhaps moving away from the computer is a good idea.

The poor Tahoe cop had probably just finished dealing with about four or five really bad calls....and maybe had a warning out to be looking for someone vaguely matching your parties description....he was possibly just 'doing his job' protecting and serving to the best of his abilities.....and I will go on to say....dare I .....that you guys were all probably very nice and respectful to him as he was doing so, right???

Ok enough said....chances are he was a jerk. But I just wanted to show you the other side. Please respect both sides of this. Criminals hate the cops and everyone else expects perfection from them, even when some 'citizens' don't want to fully cooperate because they know they haven't done anything wrong! Well, the LEO doesn't know they haven't done anything wrong...he or she is just doing their job....to protect and serve. Give them the benefit of the doubt....

Enough said from me.....this is my last post too.....I say lets get back to talking Disney now!!!

Wow, talk about an insult. Actually, we were quite nice and extremely polite. he was going after a vehicle that had been two cars ahead of us at the stop sign and ran the stop sign. The police officer made a u-turn and nearly hit us as we were pulling out onto the highway. That's why he pulled us over - because he almost hit us and not for any other reason. regardless of whether or not he'd had 4 or 5 calls, there is no reason to treat people as if they are common criminals. I HIGHLY doubt we would match the description of a common criminal or anyone he would be looking for but thanks for the insult regardless.

i apologized because I felt bad that my post was perceived in a way other than intended. Like I said previously, people often misread posts. I never thought i would offend someone by making a point. I wasn't apologizing for having an opinion since we all have them :O) People often misconstrue a point on a message board, in text messages, emails, etc. That's the problem with technology

He had no reason to treat us the way he did, but that had nothing to do with my point. It was what I took away from it - the perception and how humans tend to stereotype.

That's it .... nothing more nothing less. Obviously, I don't see the other side as I am not on it and I most certainly can't see it from a criminals point of view since I am just a regular citizen.
