I have had severe motion sickness all of my life. Dramamine is the only thing that works for me, but it does make me sleepy. I have to take it for the car/plane. I take the max amount and just sleep. At WDW I just skip most rides that I think will bother me. I was able to do Soarin' and the non-spinning MS last trip. I did okay with both. I can do the carousel, but I am glad when it is over!
Just remember, different people are bothered by different things. Some think sims are okay because they don't really move, some think the opposite. Some people can do coasters, but they can't stand to spin. Some people get sick just watching the circle vision movies.
I am scared to try ginger. I think my level of motion sickness is too extreme. Non-drowsy dramamine and bonine are the same drug. I tried bonine once and had terrible side effects (I felt like I had concrete blocks tied to each limb, it was WORSE than being drowsy.)
I think it is all trial and error as far as what bothers you and what works for you. Just remember, you CAN take dramamine after the fact if you feel sick. You just may have to go back to the room and sleep it off. No ride is worth getting sick to me. When I get motion sickness I will literally feel sick for days unless I take dramamine. HTH.
BTW, you are not being a baby. Motion sickness is a real condition, it has to do with the inner ear and balance. I actually feel sick when I just lay down without a pillow. People who have never had motion sickness don't understand how terrible it is. They also think you get off the ride, barf, and go on your merry way to the next ride. NOT TRUE!!! Folks have been seen being taken away in wheelchairs from the big coasters! Also, some people who never had motion sickness before may develope it when they get older. It is awful, I wouldn't wish it on anyone. One of the reasons I love WDW, though, is there is still so much I CAN do!!!
