Any Other Military Reservist Families Here???

DS is a Marine Reservist - has been for four years. He called me on Sunday to let us know that he had been "called in" on Saturday to receive the 1st of 6 Anthrax shots. He also noticed a large shipment that had just been received - their "desert" camoflauge uniforms.

I've been preparing myself for this for 15 months, but it looks like the day is drawing near.

My BIL is a Marine Lt. Colonel. He is currently in Japan but told my MIL he will likely be going to the middle east. He didn't say when but the unit he will be with from Pendelton has already been sent or is in the process.

My father has been a reservist for over 20 years. My MIL works for the military, and my sister and BIL are both reservists as well.


My mom did mention that my dad had to get some shots.. but he gets them all the time since he is flight personnel.

We've been through this so many times... I hate to say it, its almost normal.

DH has been in the AFR for 12 years. He was called up but stationed stateside during Dessert Storm. His unit just got a huge shipment of new equipement (communications). Boy that has the warning bells going off.
I'm not sure about the Anthrax. They were suppose to start them months ago, but then the lawsuits came up over them and they put it off. I'll have to ask DH what he has heard lately about them.

It's so good to hear from other family members!!!

My son is a Marine Corporal - engineering and heavy equipment operator. The local 6th Engineer Support Battalion that he is a part of spent 6 months in Saudi Arabia during Desert Storm. All he has been told so far is that their unit would not be used state side. They were also told that they would be sent to Camp LeJeune for processing before being sent by ship to the Arabian Sea and then transported by helicopter. He told us that their job would be to go in ahead of ground troops and construct base camps, roads, etc.

The latest news (NBC) I heard last night was that we currently have 60,000 troops in the middle east within "striking distance" but that it was projected that there would be 250,000 troops there by early January.

He was in Korea during the month of July for his "active duty" and was told then not to make any plans for the holidays. I consider it a real blessing that we still have him here (in the same town) as Christmas approaches.

I will continue to pray for ALL of your family members and our military personnel.

DH is a Major in the Army reserves. Was in Desert Storm(active duty back then). I can't say any more or I would have to shoot you !

Meeee.... My Brother is a Marine Reserve... as far as I know he was told to be ready but they haven't started him on anything yet...

And guess how he explains his job to me, his frightened sister? " You know all those guys who got killed at the beginning of Saving Private Ryan? I'm one of them!" Little BRAT!!!

DS is in the Marines but he is just starting out - right now about all he is fighting are the sand fleas at Parris Island .

DH is Army National Guard-25 years. His unit is a supporting unit for the 25th ID-they were told at drill this weekend that every effort would be made to give then 30 days notice before deployment. He just returned to his job in July after 6 months on "homeland sercurity"duty so we know the drill-but I am nervous. There was a recent article in Newsweek that implied the 25 ID would be one of the units put on the ground in Iraq if it comes to that.

My brother is a commander in the Naval Reserves.

I Havent heard anything but he is a lawyer, we always joke that he could write a really mean letter to Saddam. ( ok not that funny but it allieviates some of the tension)
