We have started to listen to a LOT of audiobooks.

I am about to order an ipod touch and was looking for deals today.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/feature.ht...f_rd_p=1280206482&pf_rd_i=598985#Restrictions

I can't find out if there is a monthly limit to how many books you can download and do you keep the downloads or is it just for use while a member and you aren't actually downloading anything.

Help me sort this out and tell me if you know of any other deals.

I have until midnight tonight for this one!

Thanks,

Dawn

I have done the math and even at paying $14.95/mo that comes to about $180/year. If I get the $100 towards an ipod, that would mean an extra $6.60 per month, which more than pays for one or two book downloads.

What am I missing?

Dawn

SHOOT, finally saw the fine print....that is ONE book per month.....never mind.

ANY OTHER DEALS?

how about downloading audio books from your local library and putting them on your ipod, itouch or other mp3 player? That's FREE. Check with your local library to see what sort of format they can do online for you. Of course maybe not all libraries will offer this option.

I have been looking for a touch deal also, not much seems to be out now.

I did the Audible.com $100 a few years ago when I got my ipod nano. Yes, its 1 credit per month. They also run specials throughout the year liek 4.99 a book. It was nice getting the extra $100 off my bill but like the other poster said you more than pay it back,.

BUT.. after a few months when I discovered I could download them from my library.. there were sill so many my library did not have and also atleast with mine there is a wait list.

Audible.com is a good company. I listen to a lot of audiobooks also.

I wanted to add $209 is a good deal for it. I did pay $175 on amazon at Christmas time but that was for the holidays. Remember you are not paying shipping or tax on amazon also.

I am thinking about getting one since I have been playing around wiht my daughters.

I have been thinking of getting the 32gb. I wish they had a 16, it would make my decision so much easier! I am not sure that 8 will be enough.

I keep putting the $275 ipod touch in my cart but can't seem to hit the "purchase" button yet!

Yes, and I think I can load the audiobooks on CD onto my ipod too through the computer. Not sure how to do that yet. I do load the audiobooks on CD onto my laptop and delete them when finished.

There are some books to download from the library database but I haven't called in yet to get my "code" to be able to do that.

I really have no need to keep an audiobook, so getting one for $14.99 each month is crazy high. I just didn't realize when I first looked into it that it was for only one book per month.

$275? Really?

Sheesh... I love how companies charge more in Canada. A 32 costs $320 here.

From Amazon or from Apple.com? I am ordering from Amazon.

What is the exchange rate? Or is this in American dollars?

You can do that in the same fashion as you would rip an audio cd and put it in your itunes library.

I did it with the last Harry Potter book, and while it did work, it was a big pain when navigating through the book on my Touch - each chapter was broken down into multiple subchapters (think between 5 & 8 parts to an individual chapter). Since I'm much more used to listening to audiobooks that I've purchased from Audible, this seemed weird. But... I ended up creating a playlist for the book and queued up the playlist, and it went fine, if a little awkwardly. Don't know if this was just for this book, or any book, as I haven't tried again.

Neither actually. I have been looking at the price in retail stores (future shop, best buy, etc).

The $320 is in Canadian funds. If I was to take the $275 US cost and convert it to Canadian, it comes out to $281.74. That results in my spending $38.26 MORE.

Sure wish I could take a road trip to the States! I'd like to get my husband one for his birthday, and I would like one as well.

We did it last year when we traveled pretty often. I just joined again because we started using audiobooks again and I wanted an Ipod for myself.

My dd wanted The Hunger Games it was $27 when I joined the club I got it for sale $5.00. So I didn't use my credit but bought with cash. I'll use credit next time.
It's not a great bargain, but since we use it pretty often and I was going to buy Ipod anyway it works out. I supplement with library audio.

That probably comes out about right for retail. Apple.com and Best Buy still sell it for $299. Only Amazon is cheaper.
