Just wanted to say Hi Nicole! Welcome to the group and big :grouphug: !

I've just recently joined here too and it's been great so far. Although with all these BFP's lately, we'll soon be the old fogey's around here!!!

Good luck and keep your chin up!

HI Nicole Welcome to our group. Like everyone has said it doesn't matter how the child comes into this world it is still yours. Woman and Infants is a great practice. I love them and they seem to be very agressive in treatment. I was talking to a mother of one of Diana's classmates who used Brigman and Woman's and finally had two IVF with no sucess and went to W and I and was in my practice; different doctor and got pregnant with twins on the first try. Check with your insurance it ,ight not be that bad with the egg donor and IVF I know with IVF United Healthcare pays 80%

15 dpo I go for my test today but I am sure it is going to be BFN. It is upsetting. I have beeen rally crampy lately and *****y.

Happy Monday Ladies!

Wow, seems I've missed a bit over the weekend. I don't feel like such a newbie on this thread anymore, thanks to all your support and openness!

RE ramped up my cycle over the weekend. Upped the follistim to 150 units, and injected the ovadril yesterday. Tomorrow I go in for the IUI :hourglass This cycle has felt really different from last month. I didn't start feeling bloated and crampy until last night (apparantly my mood swings started last night too - or so I'm told)

Just struggling trying to sit at work all day - really want to go lie down!

Hey guys-

My Best Friend just decided to start trying to get pregnant. Are there any special tips you have for her? What are the days she needs to try on? I have no idea since I have not been pregnant before. She is 28 and has never been pregnant or tried before. She is not on any meds either. I tried reading a lot of these posts but I didn't see anything about what days she needs to try on.

Thanks so much! :)

Welcome kellymouse...

The bare basics are her cycle starts on the first day of her AF (last menstrual period).

Anywhere between 8 and 15 days into her cycle she will ovulate. A lot will depend on her average cycle lenght and though some ladies have identical cycles dependably, most do not.

Signs that her body is about to or is ovulating would be mucous--either sticky or egg whitey in consistency. Either will work though the latter is optimal. But either one indicates a positive symptom for a pending ovulation.

A sight that i just reference since i Had a miscarriage had a recommendation that beginning on day 8 of the cycle (counting from AF) to begin trying every other day--and then when you see the mucous--do so every day for 3 days. Just a recommendation.

Most couples will get pregnant within one year if they have no fertility issues.

She can also purchase a basal thermometer--and documenting her temperatures--a 5 tenth rise in temperature about midway throught the cycle that remains high for 4 days or more..indicates that she has ovulated--if this rise never happens...that could be cause for concern if it happens month after month. Temps will not predict ovulation--it is an after the fact symptom and waiting for the rise--for all intents and purposes means it is too late to try for the month. (actually for when I document--it is 5 tenths above the highest of the preceding four days of temps--and that high day is where the midline is drawn--but that may be too much but not enough informtaion to explain it properly here).

I say this from a NFP perspective which is where i got all my information.

but heck--for the first time trying with no meds and no history of issues--I say she can just go for it daily if she wants to and have fun this first month. :) But that is just me!

Went for the blood work. I find out this afternoon. I am expecting them to say BFN I think I am loosing it I can spell for crap. I fell nauseous (sp) and am getting emotional but I am afraid of the BFN. How are you doing Carla?

Thanks Lisa Loves Pooh for the great info. I just told her and she is so excited. She did say that her average cycle length is 33 days, so I don't know if that would change anything. She has been tracking it since September 2004 just out of curiousity.
Please let me know if you think that would change anything.

Thanks a lot!!!
:goodvibes

Good Afternoon ladies!!!

First and foremost I have to say CONGRATS BECKY!!!!!!! I was jumping up and down in my seat here at work when I read that you got a BFP. That's FABULOUS news!!!!!!! :cheer2: :woohoo: :cool1:

Nicole welcome to the group. We're all here to support you and listen to any and all vents that you need to post.

LisaB I have a feeling that you may get a BFP today ;)

Kelly I agree, tell your friend to come on over the board...we'll be happy to answer any questions that she has.

Flyingbelle I'm sending you TONS of baby dust for your IUI!

I hope all is well with Carla...a bit worried since she hasn't posted in a couple of days.

I know I'm skipping over a lot and I apologize...just can't catch up on 3 days worth of posts right now.

It's been a rollercoaster weekend for me. I was so happy to get away from my husband on Thursday evening b/c he was driving me crazy..and by Friday at 1am I was calling him to vent and get support. One of my absolute best friends called Thursday evening and came over to the hotel where I was. We had a three hour conversation that I will summarize for you here: She had an affair. I was flabbergasted, pissed off, and mostly disappointed in her. I can't believe that she had the nerve to do that. What's worse is I work with her and her husband! No way I can face him right now knowing what she did. She left the hotel around 11:30 and I tried to go to bed but I just couldn't. I had to call my husband and confide in him. I also had to say I love you and I would never in my life do something like that.
From there the weekend got better b/c I was able to scrapbook and take my mind off of everything from the IVF to the friend issues. I even stayed up for 24 hours working on our beach album Saturday evening into Sunday afternoon. Then I crashed last night and slept for 15 hours ;)

I'm back at work today and waiting for the mail order pharmacy to call about delivery of my medications :yay:

Welcome back 2bemarried - sounds like you had quite the weekend! I hear you with your friend's confession - had a friend confess something similar a couple years ago, needless to say, when my ex-DH started cheating - she had no sympathy for me whatsoever. Thus, the END of that friendship!

What's your treatment looking like this cycle?

I got your pm Kristy. Thanks alot for the info. I wish I could go to the one in Boston but I have a gtg and renuion meeting that day. I remember finding out that a friend's husband was cheating on her--my bf at the time told me. I eventually did tell her after they were seperated.

Good Monday morning friends!

Becky - I hope you were up whooping up the good news this weekend :O) It's hard to stay away from those places when you feel like you have a legitamite (sp) reason to be there, LOL. When will your first Dr. appt be? March babies are awesome! My bday is March 11.

Carla - come out come out. I hope you are ok! It's not like you to keep up here!

Nicole - welcome! I am so so so sorry for the news you received last week. I can imagine the shock you are going through. I agree with you and everyone - a child is your child no matter how they got to your arms. I wish you the best in your pursuit of parenthood! Stick around - we are here for you :O)

Not too much went on this weekend. I finally o'd - I think I am 3dpo. There is a chance, but slim. We will see what the next 10 days or so brings. Keep your fingers &&&&..

Better go - lunch with DH!

Oh - Lisa - I hope the news is +++++ this afternoon :O)

Thanks for all your warm welcomes!

I am hoping that all the positive baby dust here will rub off on me!

Congrats Beckmark -- what fabulous news...I have been following your threads and was hoping and praying for you...

Everyone else is in my thoughts as well.

I too am wondering how Carla is doing!! Carla - you have been thru so much - I know good things lie ahead for you!

LISAB --- when you say the Women and Infants Center -- is that a part of Brigham and Women's or is that a separate place in Boston all together --- I was thinking of getting a second opinion at Brigham & Women's but maybe Women & Infants is the better route to go -- any info you have about where that place is located or if it is part of B&W would be apprecaited!!

A quick story of my hopefullness and foreshawdowing and recent sign that things will be okay!! (I am not a huge believer in signs and I don't constantly look for them but sometimes they slap you in the face and this one did and it gives me alot of comfort and hope and reason to be positive...)

As soon as my husband and I made the decision to start trying for a baby - we talked about names...we were having this conversation the first time on our way to church (a church we had been in before) to go to a memorial mass for my husband's grandmother. [as an aside we are not big churchgoers or overly religious but I think we are going to start going more now to help us get through all of this] Anyway - we are talking in the car and we decide we both like the name Dominic for a boy...we go into the church and we sit in the back side (we normally sit in the front middle) and on the window in our pew is a stained glass picture of Saint Dominic...well I could not believe it - I thought wow - that is quite a coincidence....

Fast forward 1 year later - we are still trying -- we meet with the RE on Friday June 9th and he tells us that fertility treatments increase the chance of multiples. We go home after that appt and start talking about what if we had twins...so we decide we need another boys name and girls name just in case...we pick for a 2nd boy the name Xavier....

Now Dominic and Xavier are not what I would call traditional names - certainly we know no one with either name....

So then on father's day weekend we take my Dad deep sea fishing in Harwich on Cape Cod -- my husband and I start talking to the high school kid who helps you get your fish off the pole and I ask him his name -- he responds "Dom" -- I say - short for Dominic? He says yes. So I ask him what is your middle name -- yup you guessed it -- he replies "Xavier" -- so while I am staring at my husband in complete shock and awe I tell this kid "Dominic Xavier - what a nice name."

You have got to admit that it is a pretty strange coincidence!

Through the IVF, I understand that the chance of twins is about 30% - which is fairly high...so I think this is some kind of sign that not only will everything work out for us...but we are going to have twin boys -- Dominic and Xavier!

I really believe that was a sign and it gives me a lot of hope and optimisim.

Thanks for letting me share my corny story.

Pixie dust to all!
Nicole

Not that I know of. Other than she may or may not ovulate on that magical 14th day since that is based on the magical 28 day cycle that I have seen less than what I can count on one hand since puberty. :teeth:

Corny--NO

Way cooool--YESSSSSS!

I believe in signs. Unfortunately the signs last time for me were not good. (I cannot tell you how much bad news I have been exposed to in the past year waiting to try--I lost COUNT!!!)

I can also tell you that things have taken a turn and now I am hearin nothing but GOOOOOD stories!

So I hope your signs work for you....and for me as well! :goodvibes

I hope that didn't sound bad. I hate to cast a negative light--that is not my intent at all. I have had good signs happen and come true as well. :goodvibes

Edited b/c i just read that I HAD to cast a negative light and I meant to say I HATE to cast a negative light. Oh boy!
