Well we decided to try staying onsite for our very first time as the buy 4 get 3 deal was too good to resist and we had lots of $ credits left from our last Southwest flights to afford another couple!:rotfl2:

We have decided on POFQ and would love to hear opinions, hints etc from fellow Canadians who have stayed there! Any buliding that is best to ask for etc? I also requested a fridge as I take insulin....will there be an extra charge for this?

Thanks so much for all your advice and hints!:thumbsup2

POFQ was always my dream resort. Well, we stayed there last year and it didn't disappoint. It is very small and romantic. There is nothing that is far away. We loved the magnolia trees everywhere and all the landscaping. It's very lush and green. You have the boat launch to POR and DTD as well as great bus service. If the buses are shared POFQ is always the first stop.

Have a fantastic trip!

Loved it!!!
We stayed there a week in Sept 07. It is a great Disney property, very quiet and relaxing, and just a boat ride from DTD. When we first bought our DVC we asked if we could buy POFQ, we loved it that much. It's all personal preference, but something about it made us fall in love with the property. When we were there it was relatively busy, however walking around the paths you always felt you were by yourself, you didn't see anyone unless you were around the lobby. We own SSR and still go for a stroll around POFQ every visit. The scenery is second to none, beautiful grounds that outdo most DVC grounds, IMO.

You won't be disappointed.

I also love it there. Its a nice walk over to PORiverside also.

It is our favourite resort by far. We like Building 1 because we like to feel that we are away from the hub bub of the lobby/food court/pool. Even from the furthest rooms in building 1 it is still only a 5 min walk to the bus stop.

Love the boat to DTD. for 2 reasons. It's not a bus ( we like the busses but it sure is nice to have an alternate mode of transportation) and second the boat has a schedule that they post. ( every 20 minutes after 4pm or something like that) It makes it so easy meet up at the DTD disney end ( as in see you on the 9pm boat)

Love it so much I wish we were going soon!:sad2:

I stayed there back in May. It's a very pretty resort and quiet :) I stayed in building 5 at the back and it was a 2-3 minute walk to the food court. It was close to the pool too! I tried taking the bus a couple of times but didn't like it as much as other resorts. It was probably bad luck but the two times the buses were late and packed. It still went all the way around to the POR bus stops and it felt like it took forever to get to our destination. We had a rental car and stuck with that for the rest of our trip.

Oooooooo now I'm really getting excited!!!! The peace and quiet and the lush grounds are what made us choose this resort and I'm so glad everyone loved it!I can't wait!!!!!!:)

Thanks so much for eveyone's help!:grouphug:

It is our favorite resort too..I love the grounds, the themeing and the size of it! None of the buildings are far from the food court/pool/buses!
It is so nice to take the bus to DTD..love that!

And our room had a fridge..I think they all do

ANOTHER one to say it's our favourite resort!! Sooo romantic.
I'm so jealous.

I will be there for the first time in 2 weeks! I can't wait!

We've stayed there and I liked it although DH did not. It is small and compact with a nice walk up to Riverside.

As for the insulin - no you don't have to pay for the fridge although it should be mentioned on the reservation that the fridge is for medical purposes. The two times now that I've travelled with insulin the fridge is on the reservation but I've had to call from the room to get the fridge delivered. It's taken maybe 10 minutes for them to deliver the fridge. Watch the setting on the fridge though as it might be too high and freeze everything in the fridge!

Just out of curiousity what kind of insulin do you take? I take Lantus in a pen form so it's really easy.

You'll have a great stay. Love the boat to DTD.

Fiona

Fridges are free in mods and deluxes, just not in values.

We were just there in October for the first time and we loved it! I would definitely stay there again. Rooms were clean, staff friendly, beautiful pool and gift shop, decent food court. We loved that you could take the boat to Downtown Disney. Enjoy! :)

We stayed there for our honeymoon and absolutely loved it. As everyone else has stated, it's quiet, the scenery is beautiful, and it was great to have a place to "escape" to after being in the parks all day.

Again thanks for the great reviews and yes we are looking for a quiet (and romantic :-) ) resort and this sounds exactly what we are wanting....I can't wait!:);)

Lollipop's Mom please add your opinion of the resort when you get back and hope you have a magical time there! Also I did find out that fridges were included after reading more on the resort.:upsidedow

cndmikeylover I take Levemir and it's also in a pen form and quite easy to take. And yes we are really looking forward to taking the boat to DTD! That was one of the features that caught my eye.:) :thumbsup2

I am so happy to read that you all loved the resort and March can't come fast enough now!!! lol:banana:

You'll have a great time. I totally forgot when I posted that the mods and deluxes already had a fridge. Duh moment. (Although when we stayed at AKL for one night there was no fridge for some reason).

The boat is awesome to DTD. Gives you a whole new view of DTD.

Glad your insulin is easy to take.

Fiona

Checked out of PO-FQ this afternoon. I love this Moderate! Am glad today was leaving day tho as it was fast becoming a ZOOOOO!! Room had a fridge-as I think most do?? It's a great Resort. Only downside for us..the double beds. Too small for us. DH is 6'4 and he takes waaay too much space!

Weather was 81 today--sigh

And when taking the boat to DTD dont forget to check out the new Treehouse Villas they are putting in on the SSR property!
They are looking pretty cool!

Hi Cdnmickeylover!
Great meeting you last week!
Hope all went well.

Love the ease of that boat! Noticed those as well. THey look pretty cool!
