We've stayed at GCH twice the past month and are heading back in a few weeks. We absolutely love its close proximity to the parks, as well as having many restaurants right down stairs. Our DD5 had a blast in the pool there, and its super conveniently-located as well.
Once you close your windows or slider, there is no noise from outside aside from jerks who talk loudly in the hallways...the inside doors do nothing to block the hallway noise. But I've never heard footsteps from the persons above or anything from the rooms on either side of us...so pretty quiet in that regard.
I've never stayed in a room that is right on top of DTD, however, so I cannot vouch for those. The music at DTD is about 1,000x louder than it needs to be at night (does anybody know the reason for this? same thing at CA), so I can't imagine anything really blocking that out altogether.
I agree entirely with the poster that advised to not pay extra for a park view, we didn't find it was worth the extra $$$ and frankly, hearing the screaming all the time was a little much.
We stayed at PP before, and wouldn't do it again if possible. The rooms were fine, but we really prefer the close proximity of GCH. Be advised that the rooms are small, your basic hotel-sized rooms. Depending upon the room you get, the furnishings can be quite worn. The last few times we stayed the towels were well beyond their useful life. I find the housekeeping to be mediocre at best, and at times pathetic and unacceptable...yet, we keep going back!!
