I booked a quick weekend flight for me and DH for Dec 12-14.

I am looking for something cheap and within walking distance.

Getawaytoday has the Del Sol Inn at a good price. They come in $30 cheaper than the Castle Inn.

We were at the HOJO last week, the walk was a bit far for my taste.

What can you tell me about this hotel. We don't need anything fancy, just close.

Thanks!

The guy who has this map site lists it as one of his favorites.

According to that map, Castle is going to be just the same, if not more, than HoJo in terms of distance, so it maybe shouldn't be on your list. Del Sol doesn't even look that much closer, especially since you'll be on the busy side of the street (whereas you can walk on the quiet side and take the little short cut from HoJo). The place interests me, most definitely, though!

If that is the little place behind Dennys we did stay there once, a few years ago. The location is great, the price I am sure was good as that is what gets our bookings.
If you are looking for a place to stay "just to sleep and shower" basically, and want a great location, I recommened Desert Inn $ Suites. It is a tad bit closer, and we stay there all the time!!

HTH!!

If you are not looking for a great place, it is wonderful.

It is one of the very closest to the park, but it definately is what it is. Rather dark, dingy rooms and scary outlets (serious fire hazard, lol, with everything stuck in an extension cord). BUT, really, really close, small pool, continental bfast, fridge in room. Definately good for us.

I can't give any input for Del Sol but I can vouch for Dessert Inn. Nothing fancy, but very close to the park with reasonable rates. We have stayed there for our past 7 trips and are booked again for November.

Although, I haven't stayed at at Park Vue Inn, which is next door, it is another of the "less expensive" properties you might consider. It usually gets pretty fair revues for just your basic place to hang your hat.

We stayed at both the Dessert Inn and Del Sol, and I liked the Del Sol better
Clean and rite across the street from the main gate. Nothing fancy mind you
Love the convenience

I booked a quick weekend fight for me and DH for Dec 12-14.

You're so busy you have to schedule your fights? ;)

Wow. I thought we were busy. Wish DH and I could schedule a little argument at DL. I wouldn't even mind losing as long as we got to go to the parks.:rotfl2:

(sorry, I'm up too late and I'm a little punchy.)

You know, I didn't even notice that I had a typo! For being up late, you have a good eye!

I've stayed at the Del Sol twice and I was NOT impressed. The rooms on the left hand side were VERY small. When you were in the bathroom you could barely close the door. Also they gave you ONE roll of toilet paper and when you ran out you were in trouble. We requested more and NEVER got it. My husband even called and they said they would send more and never did. They took the dirty linens and never brought fresh ones the next day.

Then on our second trip I had my cell phone charger plugged into the wall and it mysteriously dissapeared and they claimed they knew nothing about it. Made me VERY angry. The room was "ok" I've seen worse but I was NOT impressed with everything that happened and their service with the towels, tp and then how they took my charger and then didn't care when I told them about it.

The next trip we took we stayed at Dessert Inn and I was MUCH more impressed. The room was better, cleaner and had better maid service.

If I had to choose again I would go with Desert Inn and they are RIGHT next to eachother.
