Any one flown southwest? What is the quality?

We have flown twice on SW, from CT to Orlando, with kids under 5 and have always been able to pre-board. 24 hours before our flights I did print our boarding passes, just in case, but it was not necessary. The CM's at our hotel also printed out our passes from the front desk without a problem, you just need to have your conf #. Have a safe trip!

The gate folks were on the lookout for people w/strollers and tagged them right away for gate-check and showed us where to pre-board.

This is our first time flying with kids and will be taking a stroller. How does the gate check work with regards to the stroller? When do they take it, when and where do you get it back when you land?

Thanks for the info.

Thank everyone! I think we will be flying southwest :) With the money we save I am sure we will buy a dvd player and also bring our laptop (we always bring that anyway).

As far as the gate check on strollers, you get to use your stroller till right before you walk onto the plane. You leave the stroller there with the tag and they put it away for you. WHen you get off it is in the same place, sometimes even open :)

I'm a little nervous our youngest will be 5 so not eligible for preboarding. He definately can not sit alone at 5 AND his first flight. We have a non stop flight aand I know about the A passes. How likelyis it we wont get seats togrther

If you want good examples of what not to do when you fly Southwest (or just about any airline), and if you get A&E network, then check out the show Airline which is a sort of reality tv/documentary type show done using Southwest. It's pretty entertaining :happytv: and it's been a real eye opener for us as well. The show makes it appear that they overbook A LOT. lol. We usually don't fly SW because we have found better fares on other airlines. I personally really dislike their non-assigned seating policy. Every time I walk by a SW terminal at the airport, it has just seemed so chaotic there to me. But I hear they are well-liked overall, so to each their own! I hope you have a great trip.

A few times when we have come home, there have been a parent and two children that have needed to sit together and a row was not available. They told the flight attendants and they went over the PA systerm and asked if anyone would switch. On the last flight they offered a free drink to anyone that did. I would not worry. I think that people understand and would move.
