Booked a Saturday trip to Magic Kingdom right after I scored my Socerer pass upgrade from Pixie. I was disheartened when I could not enjoy POC & HM as I have one hundred times before because it appeared to me the voices and the light were both reduced by a lot. Anyone else experience this?

Which Disney Park--DLR or WDW?
This question was posted in the WDW portion of DISboards. There is a completely different portion of the boards for DL posts.

Unless a question indicates they are asking about DL, answer as if it’s WDW.

If you do notice a DL question posted in the incorrect location, feel free to click ‘report’ and the moderators will move it to the appropriate location.

Thanks.

Sorry. I didn't know this was in a WDW area.

I looked at the thread headings which don't clearly show which park, usually scanning and replying to new posts rather than going through the forum categories.

I'll be more careful and check before posting in future.

I wouldn't have known either if I hadn't caught the Sorcerer's AP bit.....

For help, all threads located in the Theme Parks Attractions and Strategy forum and sub-forums are WDW posts.

The boards are set up in location specific ways to assist guests in planning their specific trip.

I've not noticed this, that stinks. I will be headed back in a few months and would hate that, those are some of my MK faves. I wonder if it was a temporary issue and maybe it's been corrected. Gotta ask about your name, are you "Ft Mill" as in Ft Mill SC? I'm your neighbor if you are :)

Just scheduled appts with Drs in the event I had an overnight reduction in my sight & hearing. Can happen at this age.
When I first signed up for this board I lived in ftmill. That was 2005. I have moved 5x since them but have fond memories of Baxter Village so I kept the name.

Oh no, I hope all is ok. I'm a few miles from BV. We have a few more years here until kids are both in college and then we may go back to FL. It's been a great area for our family but it's gotten way way way too crowded.

When I bought my house there is 2005 there were cows on 160. LOL

The only time I have noticed problems on those rides is when people won't stop talking (we're on the ride!) or get off their phones (checking for ride openings so the phone/ipad is glowing). Sadly their "all about me" ruins it for those around them.

I was at MK on Saturday and rode both. I didn't notice a change in volume and lights. Space mountain on the other hand had no music and wasn't dark.

We were there Easter weekend & did not notice any issues. I remember reading this question about Haunted Mansion & Spaceship Earth years ago. The general thought in answers then was as the sun is stronger in the middle of the day, it takes longer for your eyes to adjust to the darkness inside, making it seem like the animatronics aren’t as bright. Made sense to me.

:mic: they should project their voices LOL

I have noticed that if I ride Haunted Mansion in the daytime I have a harder time seeing in the attraction than if I ride at night when my eyes are more adjusted to lower light levels. It seems to take my eyes longer to adjust to different light levels these days. Sometimes if I ride a dark ride in the daytime I close my eyes for a few seconds in the queue and then I can see better when I open them.

I was on POC about a month ago and did not notice anything unusual in this regard. On the other hand, I have been on so many times that I already know what they're going to say anyway, so maybe I was less sensitive to any light and/or sound issues.

If possible, you should try to ride these two rides after dark. It takes a persons eyes a long time to adjust properly to the dark, much longer than the average indoor queue length (especially for HM where most of the queue is outdoors). This makes it harder to properly adjust to the dark when you have been out in the bright florida sun, and consequently, makes it much harder to see on the very dark dark rides.

Edit: Also the ability to adapt to changing light conditions quickly can be diminished with age.
