Whats wrong with me?

We have money in the bank, our bills are paid, we own a home (finally!).

I have a job now, DH has a job.. but I still don't like to spend money.

We went to Best Buy last night, to browse. Yes, things were inexpensive, but I still didn't see the need to buy one more thing.

I only buy necessities, grocery/food, clothing, and other essentials.

I've heard of others having things pass a Disney test.. or vacation test. I guess I take it further.. does I truly NEED it or do I WANT it?

Sometimes I pride myself on being practical, but sometimes I'm too practical.. (DH even said that last night!)

Does anyone else ever feel this way?

Dh and I are this way. We have the money to buy a dining room set, even went so far as to pick one out. But just can't seem to spend the money. So we have a room, right inside the front door:rolleyes: , that is completely empty. We are pathetic.
On the other hand, when we do get the urge to spend we do it WELL!!;)

Uh, no, this is one problem I don't have. :teeth:

Cindy , I am not a big spender , we don't have too much money left after everything is paid but I have to admit that I like having all my gadgets, often I see people saving every penny they can , live a miserable life working their behinds off to save and then comes time to retire and they die before they get to that point leaving a nice chunk of money in the bank that they didn't get to enjoy.
I only work part-time, dh has a good job and we save for rainy days but we like to have our own home, our two cars ( actually we have three but keep the third one as spare ) in the summer we like to get our season passes for the local parks ( this year will be dorney and maybe camelbeach again ) and we also like to take our yearly vacation.
Now we don't go out just shopping for the heck of it but if we had the money today and dh said let's go on vacation tomorrow, I would not say no, life is too short. Of course I would not touch my rainy day fund, that's another story.

I just want to point out that we don't go without necessities. Our kids always have decent clothes and stuff. We eat out a fair amount. We take 1 or 2 vacations a year. If something breaks we replace it ( though we grumble about it!) We drive nice cars. We just don't feel the need to blow every penny on frivolous stuff. DH and I could dress better but we like our "worn-in" jeans. :)
On the other hand I think we can afford some stuff because we are frugal in other areas. Debt is a BAD word in our house. We pay off our credit card bill (yes, just 1) each month. We only buy what we can afford THAT DAY except for houses and cars. We do take out loans for those. ;) Both of us were raised in this kind of family so we just kind of followed our parents' lead.

Oh boy! I hate shopping:D I will shop with DD's when they want me too, but I don't enjoy it. I just run to Walmart or Target, get what I need, and out! The only thing I like to spend money on is vacations. :D

Oh I'm a weird one. :teeth: The less money I have, the more I like to spend. If I have a chunk of money, like a good amount saved for a trip to Disney, I hate to spend it, even on the trip. LOL!

I love to buy little things, like shoes or something, but I hate to put out big chunks of cash for cars, furniture or electronics etc. :p

We don't have all the up to date things. We don't own a DVD player or big screen TV, our computer is getting outdated, I need a new stereo receiver (mine got zapped by lightening so I've been using my little boom box), but if I had been in Best Buy last night with a couple of hundred dollars, I wouldn't have bought any of those things. But --- I would have bought a CD or two. :p  Weird. :p

I spend money like water. I am no longer in charge of our money, because whatever I have I spend. I can't save. Since Stephen has taken over, we have much more savings, and no debt (except our house). We also pay our only credit card off every month. If it were up to me, I'd probably have 20 credit cards, all maxed out. But I'd have all the cute clothes I could want, and all the gadgets and my house would be totally decorated. True, Stephen's way is much better, and I'm glad he's in charge, but man, wouldn't it be loverly!

I know what you mean about the dining room set.. I would like a new table.. and have the money.. but its more of "well, the tables not broken yet.. it still have a few more years left in it.. maybe next year"

I guess its the upbrininging I have had as well.

We do enjoy our vacations, and will be doing some things.
I guess also its taken so long to be credit debt free, I don't want to go down that long road again!

Outside of college expenses I do spend(mostly on DVD's and things like that)
